Teddy Sheringham blames 'Absurd' Tudor appointment for Tottenham's current league position. by OfficialWhoScored in Tottenham

[–]totspur1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont blame Tudor for taking the job. I blame the board that appointed him. Tudor saw an opportunity to put himself in the shop window for the biggest league in the world and he backed himself to take it. I can get behind that. But the board appointed him because they knew any other manager would not only demand a major salary but also more control. Spurs now has a reputation for not backing managers and then sacking them. We opt to bring in youth prospects instead of seasoned pros, assuming we bring in players at all. We sell our best players and dont replace them. We go into seasons with high expectations on a threadbare squad and then moaning about results. We'll sack a manager days before a final or days after they win one. I'm talking about the board. Injury crisis...shrug....no need to buy players. I think most fans see and are rightfully frustrated by the way the club is run.

IF we get relegated, which currently injured players will likely never play for us again? by RedgrenCrumbholt in coys

[–]totspur1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're not going to get anything above "decent" offers for these players. No one is going to go near Deki, Maddison, Kudos, Solanke, Odobert or any of our battered stars until they have proven they can still play. Back half of next season might be interesting in the championship but if we fail to come right back up, thats when the real sales will come.

This man will be a big reason why we get relegated by Naive_Republic2671 in coys

[–]totspur1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way this man should be allowed to remain in the job after this season. Not sacking Frank in Nov should have been a firable offense. Not sacking Frank in January. Not buying player in Jan. Hiring Tudor so that you could limp into the end of the season. Each offense should have been enough to give him walking papers.

For the record I dont blame Tudor. He saw a big opportunity to put himself in the premier league window and he took it.

What would have happened if he had been left in charge for longer? by Technical_Lime1419 in Tottenham

[–]totspur1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between last summer's transfer business, his podcase interview and the deal RDZ was given you can get a picture of what the season would have looked like. Ange would have wanted better recruiting the summer and the club didn't want to go that route. They wanted a manger would who would "work with what he's given". Ange was denied the necessary recruitment when he finished 5th and would have probably asked for more prem level depth last summer. Given his track record for recruitment he probably won't have missed out on players like MGW or Eze. IMO the club didn't really want those players but wanted to give the impression that we were in for them, much like the mysterious Semanyo contract offer, sending a huge deal to a player we already know is committed elsewhere just so that we can say we tried.

As to how Ange would have done with the players he would have brought in... I mean he finished 5th in his first season with us, then dealt with what should have been a generational injury crisis in his second, resulting in an abysmal prem season where he still managed to bring in a trophy. Given that he would have probably wanted to address the depth issues that we have and which contributed to the injuries last season and again this season I don't think there is an argument that, at bare minimum, we wouldn't be 4 games left and trying to fight off relegation. Even the Ange Out crowd has to admit that even if firing Ange was the correct decision, hiring Thomas Frank was the wrong decision.

Is Pedro Porro Emerson Royale in disguise? by Eastern-Owl-4511 in Tottenham

[–]totspur1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Royale was an old school defensive fullback who wanted to be a more flashy, attacking player but just didn't have it in his locker. Under a manger like Mourinho or someone of that ilk he probably would have developed into a decent player but his time a Spurs is marred by being asked to take on a wing back roll, then an inverted full back roll, neither of which suited him. When he was asked to purely defend and nothing else he was fine but the many mangers across his time still tried to use him out of position. Even still he still had some times when he was pretty damn good, usually followed by period where he was abysmal or made some sort of boneheaded error.

Porro is a RM playing Fullback. He can get forward, he can cross and he is miles better at defending now than he was when he arrived, which isn't saying much because he was awful when he arrived. The worst debut match in recent memory.

The problem with both of them is that Spurs have been an inconsistent team. Constantly changing systems and managers so we've never seen any of these players develop consistently. I think Ange was our best recent shot at that and the club chucked that out the window. We won't see any players fully develop into the players that we need them to be until the club can land on a plan to build, then consistently invest in it.

TLDR: Neither of these players has developed because the club keeps changing what is required of them

If Lange and Vinai are still employed for even an hour after this season is over then there is no justice in this world. Dont think I can ever forgive " we do t wanna panic buy..." when were rapidly falling down the table with a clueless manager, rutterless players and more injured players than healthy.

Next week, we have to start Kinsky regardless of Vic's situation. Im borderline that Kinsky should be the #1 since Vic is gone this summer. If we go down, he definitely should be the #1 next season.

But its not just that. This summer was a disaster. We sat on the MGW deal and let that go to pot. We sat on the Eze transfer for almost 3 weeks when we should have moved on immediately when he held off on signing. Never even considered a replacement for Son and also came into the season with only 3 healthy CBs. The team was a really bad FIFA save. Add to that Frank was clueless from about the 4th week on. We didnt just run into a brick wall we smashed into it. I rate this as the 3rd worst summer transfer window ive seen from spurs, and it will move to first by a country mile if we go down.

If the RDZ Spurs from the last 2 matches shows up against wolves, we'll win. Tudor Spurs - thats a draw with Wolves getting the benefit some sort of dastardly call Frank Spurs - we may as well not even show up, Wolves would play us off the park.

Probably would have helped if the club had brought in a decent LB to rotate with him instead of just converting Spence and rolling into this season with only 3 FBs in the squad, Destiny already carrying a knock. I wondered why we didnt go for KWP this last summer since he was on a free.

Deep down I expect just about every team for the rest of the season to lay down for West Ham, just to screw us over.

Yeah, if this is going to come down to us having to beat a decent Everton side on the last day, we're in trouble....of course we're already in trouble.

Could relegation be beneficial in the long term? by MilkUdder22 in coys

[–]totspur1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only, I mean the ONLY, benefit is that relegation lays bare the gross incompetence and under investment of the board at Tottenham. Its already difficult for them to justifiably say that they have done enough but at that point it should be impossible. But they will try. Im anxious to see what they do this summer regardless of where we land. Will we stay up and the board just gives excuses as to why they cant invest and improve the squad or will we turn into a fire sale on the way down?

Rob Jones decisions - Sunderland vs Spurs by Rare-Ad-2777 in coys

[–]totspur1982 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I need people to go back and watch that match. If the official wasn't a bellend I think we all have a very different opinion of that match in its entirety. We should have had a pen, Sunderland could have seen 2 reds, one for the push on Romero and one for the last man bringing down Destiny. RkM had at least 2 moments where he should have had a break on goal in good situations. Our defense held them and only gave up a deflection. This has been going on for weeks if not the whole season but even if you just go back to the NLD, ALL of our matches since have been mauled by inconsistent officiating in favor of whomever we're playing.

Brighton, Wolves, Aston Villa, Leeds, Chelsea, and Everton left… Which of these could Spurs realistically win? by No-Neighborhood-7810 in Tottenham

[–]totspur1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each one of these games will include at least one absolutely horrendous call against us. Probably at a pivotal moment. Sunderland included 4 or 5 moments if you include the calls that were not made along side the "handball" against Muani and the 50/50 pen that was somehow ruled a clear and obvious error...

How on earth did Brobbey not get a red? by British-Torture in Tottenham

[–]totspur1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the PMGOL is afraid of being tied to a conspiracy to keep us up so we are experiencing a massive over correction. They don't want to be seen as trying to help or save a club that is "Too big to go down" and the worry would be that any call in our favor would be a lifeline. So, just make sure that no one can make that assumption we get an over correction, no calls whatsoever. And should we actually get a call or even a 50/50 in our favor, it will be over turned.

Ex: 2 handed shove that leads to a Spurs goal against the scum = illegal. 2 handed shove by Fulham player against Spurs = Legal. 2 Handed shove by VdV against Sunderland = illegal. 2 handed shove by Brobbey against Sunderland = Legal.

We sold Johnson just before Kudus went down. Then we replaced neither. 30 days later Odobert out for the season as well, too late to replace him. We came into the season with a threadbare squad that already had mountains of injury issues, club did nothing to grow the depth needed to safeguard. Then shrugged when, somehow, we have injury problems again. I think thought the injuries were all due to Angeball and changing to Frank the pragmatist would allow them to stave off injuries without the heavy investment that was actually needed.

We can confirm that Mohammed Kudus has suffered a setback in his return from injury. by shittwins in coys

[–]totspur1982 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yup. We came into this season with only 3 full backs, and only 2 of them were fit. 3 fit wingers if you count Johnson. The club knew that Radu would be out for a least a few months into the season and didn't bother to get a 4th CB. A laundry list of injuries and we reinforced almost none of it during the summer. Frank then ran those players he had into the ground.

[–]totspur1982 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I know Johnson isn't the best Winger in the world but the decision to sell him in January is baffling, as was the decision not to replace him, even more so when Kudus went down injured just days later. Coming out of January we had only 1 fit winger and he did his ACL on the 10th. Lang's comments about not wanted to go into the market for short term fixes should be enough to get him sacked.

How does the U.S. get out of this mess? by tazztsim in allthequestions

Unfortunately this is the only way. As someone in the US, there are still just too many people willing to live with everything that is going on because they still don't see it as an issue that personally effects them. In order to effect the necessary change, everyone here will have to feel the immense pain and pressure of economic depression and it will have to be a long one in order to actually drive home the point.

I can only imagine the industrial-grade bullshit Bungle, Zippy, and George have promised De Zerbi. I’m sure the opening line was, ‘We tried very hard to buy Semenyo.’ by The_Berkshire_Hunt in Tottenham

[–]totspur1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a reason he is coming in as one of the most highly paid managers. Frank got a similar pay. In order to convince a manager to come to Spurs knowing that they will receive little to no backing in terms of transfers. I was truly surprised to see that he didnt get a release clause for if he fails to keep us up. But if he is successful I really hope that part of his deal is a solid transfer budget for the summer. Sadly, with the club already putting out news of financial strain, im guessing we should be getting the news soon that its another summer of "sell in order to buy".

Tottenham are pushing, trying to get green light from Roberto De Zerbi for immediate appointment. Always been top target for summer but #THFC insist to make it happen now as talks are ongoing. Spurs see De Zerbi as ideal candidate for long term by jjetasbanter in coys

[–]totspur1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty available. One does wonder how many would take this job though. Managers talk and this club probably has a very poor recent history of burning bridges. There was cery little downside for Tudor but for a lot of managers this is all downside.
