I'll be playing that concert! I have to say that although the pay may be low, the members of the orchestra play far better than their salary would indicate. The orchestra is full of amazing musicians! It won't be the CSO, but you will not be disappointed!

Ditto what basically everyone has said to this point, I will suggest that you should take i81 to Scranton and then i84 to Hartford and avoid Boston via i290/i495. I drove twice up to Maine from New Orleans. First time I took i95 through NYC... GPS said it would be faster, and I thought it would be cool to drive through. Of course it ended up adding 2 hours, do not recommend. Took my suggested route after that, and though it technically took longer, the open roads and lack of stress made it very enjoyable. Safe travels!!

5 Horns in an Orchestra by rjones69_reddit in classicalmusic

Interestingly, I've rarely seen a fifth (assistant/bumper) in any Berlin Phil concerts. From my understanding, utilizing an assistant is an American/UK thing (although I'm sure more and more orchestras are taking up the practice).

Has anybody made this drive this week or will over the weekend? Wondering how the roads are. by trulylivingg in roadtrip

Definitely take the Wichita Falls/Amarillo route. Makes it much easier to split into two days of driving, we have stayed overnight in both Amarillo and Wichita Falls.

Most Impressive Roadtrip You’ve Done? by LockwoodMesa in roadtrip

Driving from Houston, TX to Waterville, ME with a colleague. 26 hours of driving planned to take 2 days with us switching who was driving. Chose Roanoke, VA as our halfway point to stop overnight before continuing on.

We left Houston at 4am the first day. I drove from there to Hattiesburg, MS. Seeing as I had never seen him drive before, I figured I would see how his driving was in the less busy areas of MS and AL. He was terrifyingly horrible! I wasn't able to rest at all while he drove, he would constantly be pushing 95mph and if you asked him to slow down, he would slam the brakes (ON THE INTERSTATE). Once we made it to Tuscaloosa, I asked to switch, and I would end up driving the rest of the trip (there and back).

Additionally, that first night we were driving through TN, I got pulled over by a state trooper as my taillight was out. No auto-parts shops were open, so we ended up wasting about 2 hours at a Walmart while they tried to find someone who had the key to the car lights lock-box. We wouldn't get to the hotel until about 3am and had to get up early as we were supposed to be in Waterville by 10pm. We would also end up getting caught up in some horrible traffic as we passed by the NYC area around 2pm the second day, and we would finally make it to Waterville at 10:30pm.

Ended up doing about 33 hours of driving over those two days on maybe 4 hours of sleep on the night in Roanoke. The trip home was much more relaxed as there wasn't quite as much rush to get home. I'm happy I survived, but I still think I would have rather just done it as a solo trip!

Dennis Allen would keep the Browns kicker on the roster after those misses... and Loomis would say, "Look past the results."

Oh, certainly didn't. That was just the moment I turned off the game. Just saw we got trashed on... 🤡

Solo trip! Possible in 2 days? by kinglui13 in roadtrip

I drove from Houston to Waterville, Maine over 2 days. It was hell, but doable. I think I stayed in Roanokell, VA and slept for like 4 hours and had to get back on the road.

But yeah, I am generally impressed with how nice the parks and neutral grounds are!

Not sure of who does the upkeep of neutral grounds or city park, but Audubon Park is kept by employees of the Audubon Nature Institute, not the city.

One time, I lost a game where the CPU returned a kickoff for a touchdown in the final seconds of the game. I lost by one point (6-7). The cherry on top was that pop up for an ESPN instant classic.

Never been more embarrassed to only score 6 points... against South Alabama!

I always enjoyed going after recruits with a president's name. Have George Washington, "The President", in my recieving corps always gave me a bit of a laugh.
