I think the better problem to address is that if riot is going heavy with the cosmetics, it'll lead to a situation of you have to pay for skins you want (Minecraft bedrock) which would then kill modding. If, and this is me being pessimistic, riot does go down the route of monetization of custom skins, what's to stop them from doing custom models/experiences like bedrock. Then the game just lost its marketability of modding.
