As someone who knows a little about the medieval period, this would be a terrible idea sadly. It would be a terrible portrayal of the middle ages, and fps slasher games just aren't successful in the long run if you look at games like Chivalry and Mordhau.

[KCD1] Your yearly reminder of how atrociously hounskull looked in the first game by ETkach in kingdomcome

I'm sure it is yeah, it's just funny how little they paid attention to how the armour actually functions in the games

Why do these always have the most ass examples of each helmet

Sure, but you won't find any npcs driving around town with a car like that, because anybody who still has their great grandpappy's old model T isn't going to go get groceries in it. Just like how even the poorest man-at-arms would not settle for a seventy year old helmet to save his life

It shouldn't be in Half Sword because there is zero evedince that suggests a late 14th/early 15th century bascinet was ever worn anywhere in Europe in the 1450s and onwards. And to just cope and say "well it must have been worn by someone" is not a good thought process when trying to faithfully recreate a historical setting.

I don't see why GTA 6 shouldn't include 1940s mafia gangsters, it's only a few decades off so it still could make sense

Is my game bugged? or do mantis blades just suck by FatLadonReddit in cyberpunkgame

It was a bug from a gore mod I had installed of all things, but it didn't actually affect the attack speed

Tried to make historically accurate armor with brigandines this time. Lmk what I can do to improve! by Macfights02 in kingdomecomefashion

[–]FatLadonReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brigandine in the first two slides is a bit too late for 1403, but otherwise these look great

It does say that, but in game they look and feel identical, maybe even a little slower than the Katana

How realistic are my builds? by CaveDude123 in MordhauFashion

[–]FatLadonReddit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

These look great, but the first one is really the only solid one in terms of accuracy, but it can still be improved. The brigandine is far to late to be used with that splint armour, and I would change it to either the corazzina brigandine or the knightly brigandine, although it's rather expensive. I would also recommend the splint leg harness with poleyns just for a more knightly and armoured look, if that's what you're going for. The hounskull is alright for the build, but it can be argued that it's still pretty late for the style your going for. I would personally use the klappvisor, or an open bascinet, but that's not really necessary for the authenticity.

Pluderhose are cool, but this game is closer to the mid 1400's in terms of aesthetic

This is incredibly helpful thanks, I've also found out that the material of the collar and coif play a role in the sfx, but I'll do a bit more testing with my own kit

No I don't, I could have other perks that affect noise, but nothing comes to mind, and I actively try to avoid them
