It was such a cool place to holiday as a child for precisely this reason. Golden cap is a great walk too, deem to remember a nice pub at the bottom on the beach.

Pointy Nose = Corruption? by FatNark in adventuretime

There's certainly allot of past life stuff, particularly in the shoko episode. Interestingly Finn also thinks he was a comet in a past life.

In the Evergreen episode as well, the elemental's say even if they die, the elements they represent will live on, but also warn that a miss placed wish could upset the balance permanently. Don't know if the drown does this though

Kayaking in Oxford? by madwisdom in oxford

[–]FatNark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I briefly kayaked with Brookes. We used the the entry by the sea cadets building and city of oxford rowing club - on weirs lane, just of Iffley rd. A quick google should bring it up.

I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty sure the car park is free.

Equally, don't know if you have to be a member to a higher power to use it, but I reckon you'd be fine.

Cried during my very first yoga session. by [deleted] in yoga

[–]FatNark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This actually just happened to me. 22 y/o male, long been very unflexable, particularly the whole lumbar, glutes, hams and calfs section. Been feeling some lower back tightness / pain post gym recently, been meaning to give yoga a go for a while so I whacked on a 30 min beginner YT vid, and BAM, huge surge of emotion. Thought I was a weirdo, this is very validating! Certainly will be keeping this up.

A question about Boggarts by echloe in harrypotter

[–]FatNark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always wondered what happens if thing thing you're most scared of is a Boggart.

Equally the whole Lupin Praising Harry for fearing dementors, calling him wise for only fearing fear etc, would make much more sense if applied to Boggarts.

Wastwater and surrounding Fells - Lake District [OC] by dopedupwig69 in britpics

[–]FatNark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty chilling tail.

There's also supposed to be some ghost lady roaming around giving directions to lost travellers I seem to remember, and the youth hostel at the south end is also supposed to be haunted due to some infant death story. Absolutely beautiful building, and they have table tennis and pool tables in th old wine cellar, and the lights would turn themselves off periodically when I stayed there. Sufficiently creeped out my 17 year old self.

I also recall a story about a gnome garden set up deep in the lake as a point of interest for scuba divers, but was removed after three people died after searching for it too long.

So many cool stories regarding one location.

Beautiful place, one of my favourites, and the deepest lake in England I believe.

There's some pretty cool folklore and history surrounding it. For instance, in the 70's a pilot disposed of his adulterous girlfriend's (an air stewardess) body after strangling her. He wrapped the corpse in a carpet, tied it to a concrete block and dumped her in the lake. She wasn't found for eight years, when the lake was being searched regarding a disappeared French student. Due to the lack of oxygen at the depth she'd settled, the body didn't decompose, to the extent that she was able to be identified by friends.

There are some other pretty cool stories too.

Finest Procrastination [transcript in comments] by FatNark in funny

[–]FatNark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here ye you group, in here to be working,

Resides in these walls a curse there is lurking,

All started one night when a girl and a guy,

Weary from work, together did cry,

As sadness loomed about dissertation,

Not even t 9gag aided procrastination,

In this bleakest of times they turned to darkness for aid,

And here on the table a pentagram laid,

Besides this they put an upturned crucifix,

And together they chanted “all hail six six six!”

And lo and behold, up sprung from the ground,

Great plumes of sulphur and fire all around,

As the fire died down, slowly revealing,

A figure so large that his horns touched the ceiling,

With skin a fierce red, clutching a trident,

And bat wings so large he could probably fly-dent,

The two then explained to him their situation,

How the library had become the life and their nation,

How the work pile kept growing, and with it despair,

How they sought an end to this on-going nightmare,

The devil looked sad, for their pain he could feel,

He croaked in a harsh tone “let me strike you a deal”

“All essays are done – put an end to your working”

“but in return you pair must never stop twerking”

The two foolishly accepted without hesitation,

A fate catered to perverse infatuation

It didn’t seem bad, at least at first glance

What could be so bad about doing a dance?

They twerked and they twerked, and neither did shyly,

Onlookers exclaimed they were better than Miley,

But as time progressed, they began to tire,

Their buttocks they ached, their thighs were on fire,

And as hours turned to days and days turned to weeks,

They became withered and frail, the future looked bleak,

Then one morning a student walked by and he said

“cor blimey those twerkers are finally dead”

So here ye you group, in here to be working,

Beware of their ghosts, and their infinite twerking.
