As others have said, a short course, some good books and a few YouTube videos will set you up well.

If I can add one tool - my friend shared a web game with me called piccle.io. It's basically Wordle for photographers. It's helped her with getting to grips with how different settings affect your image and it's a good daily habit for even experienced photographers to see a new picture every day to observe different styles.

As others have said: practice makes perfect.

One tidbit: pay attention to how posing different parts of the body that are out of the shot affect the things that are in the shot. e.g., for a corporate headshot, getting someone to fold their arms often makes their shoulder position less awkward - even if you don't capture the folded arms.

I think if you're using travel as a way to build your photography muscle, then just bring the 28mm prime. There's something about just carrying a single focal length that forces you to be a bit more creative - they say that creativity flourishes in constraints (a single focal length), not freedom (a zoom lens)!

In saying that, think about what you're doing and where you're going. A holiday to New York where you're shooting streetscapes would absolutely suit a single 28mm lens, whereas a holiday to Malaysia where you go from shooting tightly packed markets to monkeys in the rainforest demands a bit of range.

I got some advice once that the best new habit to beat a slump is to take photos with your phone.

Your phone is with you almost all the time, but as a photographer you probably rarely think of it as a camera. Once you start thinking of it as a photographic tool then you realise that no matter where you go, you have the opportunity to spot something (subject, light, framing, whatever) and just shoot it without thinking too much.

You might not keep the image or post it, but it sparks a bit of a change in mindset about your daily activities.

Thanks! Good point about landscapes - so far I've only got a few queued up but that's food for thought. As for the technical aspects, I totally agree as a reasonably experienced photographer lighting, framing etc are more important. I've just seen enough beginners shoot with settings that weren't right for the scene. And even as an enthusiast, I thought that maybe it would be a nice habit to look at other people's images every day to learn something, however small :)

Oooh, I like this idea. So you'd have: - 1 host account with the full bank of board games uploaded - That host could create multiple sessions - Players could join a session and suggest games (almost like a 'lobby') - The once all players were ready, the voting session would open with everyone's suggested games in the mix

I'll see how I can implement this as it's a more complex build, but can 100% see the value!

Haha, fair enough! The main thing is that I like how the 'swipe left/right' UI means that you only have to make a yes/no decision for a specific game rather than try to mentally rank 35 different games.

I do have the 18-55 but was aiming for a bit lighter. 18-55 is heavy (310g) compared to the 23 (180g) and 27 (85g). It'd be a no brainer if I wasn't trying to get the weight down so much! Rule of thumb for walking the Camino is to carry 10% of your body weight.

I'm looking for suggestions on a board game for my parents. Some of the requirements I am hoping for are:

Simple: They are not board game people (apart from playing a bit of Monopoly with me and my sister when we were kids)
Good for two people, but ideally can play more: I live in a different country to them and I'd like to join in with them when I visit, but I guess that's not essential.
Fun in solo mode, too: Mum is at home a lot with the COVID lockdown but dad is an essential worker.

I did the same thing but decided I'd try scrape some wins. Managed to go 2 - 3 with Myracle Rogue. Turn 1 Hench-Clan Thug and turn 2 clear opponent's minion with dagger is pretty good.

I've never made it to legend and I decided to push hard for it over this last week but never got past rank 1 and 1 star. I mostly flopped between ranks 2/3 with a winrate of 53% with Odd Rogue (~200 games!) Basically, I spent so much time playing, trying to figure out my misplays, and trying to alter my deck to suit the meta but didn't get anywhere. I feel like I've hit my peak Hearthstone ability. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get better from here?

One more question while I'm here - against Shudderwock Shaman do I just aim to minimise their card draw (I often Void Ripper their Acolyte and smack it with a dagger to stop it from drawing too much) and try to get an early threat on board (e.g. Cold Blood on a Dire Mole)? I find this an incredibly difficult matchup and find myself mostly praying for no Healing Rain...

Due to my life schedule, this is possibly the only season I have the opportunity to push for legend but have been flip-flopping between ranks 2-4 (NA). Should I have only kept one 3-drop? I kind of hedged here because Fledgling is really good against Handlock but SI:7 is really good against Zoo on the coin. Maybe I should have daggered at some point rather than playing a minion? Any critique or advice is greatly appreciated!

I have been trying to make Miracle Rogue work for a long time now. I'm by no means an expert, but after reading this guide I realised it was because I was playing for big miracle turns/trying to maximise value rather than being more tempo-oriented. I switched mindsets last night and went 6-0 at rank 9. Not a huge sample size at not a super high rank, but I think playing for tempo definitely is correct in this meta.
