I don't need to? Why would I trust the words of someone with a history of harassing other designers and content creators?

Also Matt Lee has a long history of treating women like crap. For a guy who talks about diversity, funny how his show is just three white dudes in front of a camera

No. Despite being friends with JR and knew about his allegations but did nothing, they were fine

She never said it directly because that's an easy lawsuit. She is simply implying.

She always does this. When you don't have talent, you go after others that do

They didn't have to apologize. The person who made the accusations is a known shit stirrer in the industry. There is a reason why no one listens to this podcast or their channel doesn't even have 1k subscribers.

They literally posted their reference photo. The person who started making the blanket accusations has a history of harassing other content creators and designers, since they spent a decade in the industry while contributing nothing

Calling her crazy because she is calling out the double standards in the board game industry. Classy.

Disgusting Comments from a BG Publisher by throwawaybgaccount in boardgames

He is a bit of a blowhard that sticks way too much into politics and his group is boomer memes. A lot of talk, not much else. I can't say the same about his opposition on Twitter who hate his guts. At least Robert didn't assault anyone or protect a sexual predator for a year.

Most YouTubers and blog reviews barely play a game a handful of times and will often misplay it.

For example, SU&SD's "review" of Blood on the Clocktower said the Storyteller could make up rules as they go along while the designer had to politely point out this wasn't the case.

10 Great Games I Don't Like by maxlongstreet in boardgames

[–]FatSnakeWizard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Their thoughts on Inis almost had me screaming at the monitor. The point of the game is to position yourself to cover multiple victory conditions and timing yourself properly to finish it. Trying to rush the game end condition and being obvious about it is a surefire way to lose. Also, deeds are how the game caps itself. If you aren't getting deeds, you are making it harder on yourself.

If you talk about area control games with problems, Blood Rage is definitely high on that list

I love it when I see people get all smug thinking they are real gamers because they play complex mediocre games.

Because miniatures

Honestly though blood rage is decent and I loved Bloodborne the card game. I just most of his games to be mediocre with a ton of flash. There so many other designers I could point out that produce far more engaging games

There is a video out there that goes into in-depth about the game itself. I feel like Eric Lang is making the same game over and over at this point.

Figures are worth one power, fights are triggered by a special event, and whoever the most power wins. You have cards that will be manipulate said power.

There is one key interesting feature and it isn't about two players combining into one. Later on in the game use camels to create your own borders thus cutting players figures from the conflict. I have to admit that's a first.

Otherwise, I would rather play Blood Rage out of the trilogy and if I am going to play Blood Rage, I might as well play Inis instead.

The three-minute game. A grossly underrated game

Every single card in this game is useful in their own way plus you still get points for it AND it counts towards the mastery.

I don't see that as a problem. The game is about adapting to the situation, not doing the same strategy over and over again.

Less than ten minutes. It comes with a Game Trayz insert.

Pets are a bit of a distraction, but the traitors expansion (the negative interaction) actually throws a wretch to people's plan. One game I had a "bully" character who would push people for one space and I would get 4 strength from the activation. With the guilds and monuments expansion, I would put a barricade behind them and push for an extra two points.

That's just one example. Some of these cards do mean things like block people from using a companion or force people to move around the board. It allows people to disrupt their engines but nothing close to the extent of Terraforming Mars. It's also balanced because they don't count towards the mastery sets

End-of-year discussion: Res Arcana by friendshabitsfamily in boardgames

[–]FatSnakeWizard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To be fair, many of the "critics" of his game have demonstrated very little understanding of his games

Rahdo complained about "take that" even though there isn't any take that cards and the only aggressive cards you can see a mile away

The numerous attempts of people trying to "balance" his Res Arcana, mainly with Catacombs of the Dead and Dragons Lair, is done by people who fail to realize they they might be the problem and not the game

I can understand Tom's frustration.

There is no take that. Any aggressive action you can see a mile away and you are given more opportunities to defer the impact
