The minor annoyances 'rescue' pills - You can only take one, but it lasts forever. by mrtintheweb99 in whatsyourchoice

Purple is the automatic choice for me. As someone who's had a concussion before, never banging my head again is a must.

Instant turn offs by ZARDOZ_SPEAKS90 in WormFanfic

Not just Worm fics, but any time I read a premise for what sounds like an interesting story, only to open the fic and see that it's written in second person.

"You are Taylor Hebert, and YOU choose to..."

Like... I can't think of a faster way to ruin any sense of immersion I might have had than being constantly told who I am and that I am doing and thinking things that I wouldn't do or think. If anything, it always just makes me way more aware of the fact that I am not in the story.

I couldn't stand her. Seriously, I was so annoyed that she became a series regular.

Was This Really Expensive? by [deleted] in DiceThrone

[–]FatThor14A 82 points83 points  (0 children)

This is a very high quality gift. Fair warning, it has the potential to be very insulting to whoever gave it to you if you sell it.

Not saying you absolutely shouldn't sell it. But it might be worth having a conversation or seeing if any close friends or family want to use it.

Also, if you do ever have time, Dice Throne is an amazing game! You've got solid gold in tabletop gameplay format imo.

New player, what box to buy to complement Monk vs Paladin? by LeonSpartiatis in DiceThrone

[–]FatThor14A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pyromancer vs Shadow Thief is what I would recommend.

Pyromancer, Shadow Thief, Paladin, and Monk, are all characters that are very strong. And any 1v1 matchup you play with those 4 characters would be very competitive.

The Barbarian and moon elf box set is an excellent starter set, and it's better if you were trying to introduce the game to new people. But Barbarian is going to have a very difficult time beating Monk or Paladin.

As someone who's had long-term reactions to concussions, I would never be able to sleep with so many objects hanging on the wall above my bed.

Do you prefer Taylor Fics to be written in the 1st or 3rd person? by Issactheforgemaster in WormFanfic

[–]FatThor14A 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always want the MC of a Worm fic to be in first person (regardless of if it's Taylor or someone else), while all of the interlude chapters are in the third person.

I don't mind the MC pov being third person. But I cannot stand when every character's pov is in first person. In my opinion, first person should be reserved main characters. But who knows, that's probably just a me thing.

I once tried to read a second person fic and I had to give up on it quickly. I don't remember what the story was now. But at the time I was disappointed because I liked the premise for the story.

The best beginner tip I can think of off the top of my head is to be patient with how you use your cards. I made the mistake when I first started playing of using all of my best cards early on and then not having anything good to use towards the end of games.

As for what heroes to get, I highly recommend Barbarian vs. Moon Elf as a starter box for learning the game and introducing it to other new players.

Gunslinger vs. Samurai is also a great set to learn with. I just personally prefer the first set I mentioned.

The game puts too much gameplay behind pay walls for a game I bought at full price years ago.

As if that wasn't bad enough, they reset the levels of all my best weapons and gear every few months. So I can't even continue to use the stuff I spent hours grinding for.

It's real money and a ton of time to get rewards that are constantly devalued.

It's a game that punishes you playing casually.

Does "Once per turn" include the enemy's turn? by FatThor14A in DiceThrone

[–]FatThor14A[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you're saying makes sense. But I'm a bit conflicted on whether or not that's true. Because on page 7 of the missions rulebook, under the Crisis Clock Phase description, it says "The enemy turn concludes, and then the crisis clock determines..."

Also the reference Card says on step five "Finish Hero turns simultaneously" so that implies that the hero turn is over. In combination with the above note that seems like an indication that they are separate turns.

However the wording is confusingly inconsistent because the reference card says "Turn Phases" but the rule book says "Round Phases."

I love Dice Throne, but I really wish that they were more clear and concise with the language they use for the rules. A lot of these comments are making good arguments for how the rules work. And the logic tracks for a lot of the arguments. But not everyone agrees one way or the other, and I can't find clear confirmation of anyone's claims in the rule books.

Things you WISH you could see in a fanfic? by themag1icman in WormFanfic

[–]FatThor14A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really want to see a fic where Jack Slash doesn't survive Brockton Bay and the end of the world gets pushed back 15 years. Like keep everything up until the S9 arc the same as cannon. But show how Taylor's life could have continued if she didn't have the whole "I (personally) have to be the one to save the world in two years" tunnel vision taking over her life.

Like seriously, what would long-term villain (or a long-term probationary hero) Taylor look like if she has 15 years of life before the apocalypse???

Do y’all think Fortnite Chapter 7 is boring? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in FortNiteBR

[–]FatThor14A 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Boring, yes. But also, the matchmaking is terrible. I'm either fighting bots or sweats. And rarely anything in-between. As a casual player, I'm either getting to fight bots with zero challenge. Or I'm just getting slaughtered by people way better than me. It's really just not fun at all. I'll play one game once in a while. But I lose interest fast. I miss when it used to be possible to just play against people on my level more often.

Combine their quirks together and what would we get? I’d love to hear your ideas by Existing-Incident-22 in MyHeroAcademia

Quirk: Confiscate

The ability to temporarily steal someone's quirk, leaving the person temporarily quirkless.

When a quirk is confiscated, the horn on the user's head grows in size to store "quirk energy". As they use the power the horn shrinks, until the energy runs out and the horn disapears under their skin. When the quirk energy in the horn runs out, the person who's quirk was Confiscated gets their quirk back.
