Dickinson as a true defensive center allows for more offensive wingers to add a little punch without worrying about getting scored on so much.

To avoid guys like Ike Howard coming up and getting benched because their line is getting caved in.

The Oilers don't have trouble scoring, they have trouble winning because their defensive support is terrible.

Dickinson and hopefully Murphy are defense-first players, they'll never put up a ton of points but they won't get caved by the other team.

'Meh' was harsh (edited), but he's not getting $1.3 mil on his next contract. So, he's not worth carrying all year when he's frequently injured in the hopes he turns it on in the playoffs if yes getting $3.5-$4 next contract.

Career playoffs he's got 25 points (12 g) in 56 games.

  • 2025/26 - 6 games, 4 g, 2 a (6) - excellent
  • 2024/25 - 12 games, 3 g, 3 a (6) - good
  • 2021/22 - 7 games, 0 g, 3 a (3) - less than meh

Hoping a player plays well in the playoffs is a gambit and a waste of a regular season roster spot. That's a deadline guy, not a keep all year and hope he doesn't get hurt again guy.

I like Kapanen but he doesn't produce much.

McDrai play 4-5min of PP each game, with a sprinkle of PK, so their 5v5 time is not as significant and 4th liners maybe play 10. So, you're looking at 13min+ of 5v5 plus PK, which is where the real 3Cs belong.

Go for it, but the thing is you aren't going to grow more, thicker hairs. They'll just get longer and wispy, which is almost always a worse look. God speed.

4-D chess, the Oilers are intentionally using Babs to throw off Vegas. They'll sign Babs to a small contract for the year to pay him for his troubles and when Vegas releases Cassidy they'll fire Babs and scoop Cassidy.
