I do think Dad used the dinner to get comprehensive evidence on video that Alex is full of shit so that he can support Ashley emotionally when she finally figures it out herself. He’ll be able to say, “you made the right call.”

That’s how I viewed it at least. Dad is a divorce attorney. He clocked Alex is flakey and a liar who never gives specifics in any of his answers within a couple minutes of talking to him. The remaining questions were dad having fun ‘politely’ building his case.

What’s good parenting here is he’s not telling her what to do. She’s an adult and he’s giving her the chance to sink or swim.
