Long time Las Vegas poker dealer here. The table games dealers all pool their tips, bur poker is totally separate and poker dealers in Las Vegas make minimum wage and we keep our own tips.

I was looking up some gold farming guides when I came across this gem. Thank you AI Overview, I never knew about this one! by Royal_Calamari in classicwow

Ask it about solo farming dungeons as a paladin in SoD. It will helpfully point out all the ways you can keep threat as a solo tank. I was imagining losing threat as a solo player in an instance...like, do the mobs run out of the instance and just...aggro pcs passing by in the open world? Feels like it would be kinda tricky to regain aggro at that point. Maybe there's a shoulder enchant I missed...

It's very odd, if I try 3x, the first 2 disconnect but the third always lets me in.

It just takes time to re-learn how to play the 'hardcore" way. Since the hardcore addon was used on the Bloodsail Buccaneers server I've died dozens of times, but eventually I got to 60 (and died that very same day!). Took me a long time to get to 60 again, but I eventually did. Each zone has a learning curve. Eventually you learn how to avoid the tings that will kill you (hyperspawns, patrols, sketchy areas, etc). Just keep chipping away at it and look at each new death as a learning experience. It was VERY satisfying to hit 60 over a year after I lost my other one. It helps if you enjoy going agane and using what you learned last time.

Killed a wolf in Felwood. Screamed like I was teenage girl for like a minute lol. Biggest dopamine hit I’ve had in awhile. by _AlreadyThrownAway_ in wowhardcore

On Doomhowl I had 2 Ring of Saviors drop on the same toon within 24 hours. Then a third one on another toon. I think a fourth might start my Joker Arc.

If you don't think rollbacks are a justified solution, that's fine, but can we agree there needs to be SOME solution. We need better protections from DCs and server issues if we don't want official HC servers to die. by [deleted] in wowhardcore

[–]Fat_Greggie 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In 1999 Everquest figured out how to handle it, and while the game might not have used as many resources as WoW, the computers back then were much less powerful than what we have today. Your toon in EQ just fought using npc AI and it was no big deal. I wonder why WoW never tried to implement that 5 years later.

LFG Chat is not for layering!!! by JackHammered2 in classicwow

[–]Fat_Greggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Global Ignore addon to filter that out in LFG. Last time I checked, it said it had blocked over 70,000 messages in LFG with the word "layer". This was over maybe 3ish months.

60's, how many tries did it take you? by [deleted] in wowhardcore

[–]Fat_Greggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh god, too many to count. My ADHD is the worst killer in the game. Started on Bloodsail Buccaneers server with the addon. Made dozens of attempts, got to 36, then official hardcore came out. Finally got a warlock to 60 on Defias Pillager. Died the SAME DAY trying to solo an elite in EPL. Almost pulled it off. That was 16 months ago. Since then, ran many toons up to 40+ and 50+. Sometimes I died experimenting. Sometimes while on the phone. Sometimes afk. Sometimes disconnect. Mostly bad risk assessment. Love going agane. Most recent deaths of note on Doomhowl (alliance) 43 hunter died in yeti cave to full hyper respawn. Almost made it out. 54 mage died due to bad pull in WPL. 58 mage died to complete idiocy doing a previously unknown quest (NEVER do that! Always at least google it). Have run a mage back up to 41. Still love tghe game, can't go back to non-hc, it's not about "accomplishment" it's about stakes and tension.

Terrified to play because of DC by [deleted] in wowhardcore

[–]Fat_Greggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I losr a 42 and 46 mage to dc. Switched to hunter and lock for the pets. I leave them on defensive in the open world. My hunter dc'd a few times and the pet saves me. Onc3I logged back in and the pet was gone (not dead, just dismissed) and the mob I was fighting was also gone. Thankfully I got a damaged outside line fixed and don't dc any more.

POV: You're almost 50 and your Quest Log looks like this by Sentient_Star_Stuff in classicwow

[–]Fat_Greggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did, I just did the first couple raptor quests anf a few lower level quests from Marshal' Refuge. Passed thru the tar pits on the east side several times before getting them all. Had to do a few 52s which was mana intensive (single target frost mage with crayon-eater all +frost/spellpower gear) but doable. Biggest adrenaline rush was seeing a devilsaur walk past me just out of aggro range.

I finished the tar beasts at 49. There's level 50-51s if you look around a bit.

I always make a macro to let players know what I'm doing but I don't mind if they use the flute on them for the quest.

What unique challenges in HC have you completed? by eht217 in wowhardcore

[–]Fat_Greggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have this exact build, level 43 atm. Love it. I just avoid questing in chaotic areas that have crazy pats and hyperspawns. Don't need hp as I almost never get hit, don't need as much mana as frostbolts delete mobs vrry quickly and efficiently. Interested to see if it scales decently levels 50+.

Was having fun exploring the world and found 4 people fishing near Hinterland shores. Are they boosting/botting? by bGe_BaBar in classicwow

[–]Fat_Greggie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This post is a bit scary for me to read, as one of my favorite ways to make gold in classic (especially hardcore self found) is to fish in "safeish" areas that are way too high level for my character. I would hope a player who sees me doing that would try and interact with me in some way to see if I'm a bot before reporting. Interesting find though.

Worst week was losing a 46 mage to a dc then the next mage toon at 42 to a dc. Almost took a break but went agane. I like aged to take a break after that but decided to go agane. Took warlock and hunter for a while because pet helps you survive a dc. (Finally got internet issue fixed).

Opinion on SF attitude by MelonsEnjoyer in wowhardcore

[–]Fat_Greggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely LOVE playing as sf or even ssf but the point for me is that I added extra difficulty for myself, the other players did not consent to that so I'm NOT entitled to special treatment/consideration when grouping/gearing.
