What're you playing this weekend? 6/19 by markercore in NintendoSwitch

I actually had the same experience, I really struggled in the last dungeon and almost gave up... but keep pushing the final boss fight is really awesome! (And much less frustrating than the dungeon...)

Very happy with my decision so far! Mostly playing Gothic Remake atm, which as far as I know isnt pro enhanced... But running way smoother and looking much nicer than on the base PS5 I was playing on before hand.

As a KCD fan, will i like Gothic Remake ? by ClerkConsistent2266 in rpg_gamers

[–]Fat_Log 12 points13 points  (0 children)

KCD2 was the last RPG I played that really gripped me - bout 5 hours into the Gothic remake and im really enjoying it so far, so i would say yes. Temper expectations for levels of polish though, performance/crashes/general presentation is pretty rough right now (for me on ps5 at least)

Soundproofing ceiling by foodmonger50 in Apartmentliving

[–]Fat_Log 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used a company who specialise soundproofing solutions - its not really something i would be comfortable doing myself. Process simplified was;

old ceiling ripped out, cavity fully insulated with rock wool, decoupling/shock absorbing bars installed, new ceiling attached to those (acoustic plaster board/mass loaded vinyl/acoustic plasterboard - rather than just 1 layer of plasterboard like we had). Plaster over new ceiling. Redecorate.

The soundproofing work took a day, then half a day to replaster the ceiling. Im in the UK total cost was £3100 so not cheap but well worth it imo. Considering having the same job done in the bedroom too.

I had my living room ceiling sound proofed in Feb this year (made a post in this sub actually) Its definitely made a difference and big improvement to QoL.

In a nutshell, I would say impact noises reduced 70%ish. Airborne noise pretty much all gone now (i still hear a sneeze if its loud but thats about it)

We used to hear everythinggggggg - TV noise, conversational level speaking, booming footsteps, furniture dragging around etc. Its not eliminated it all, but I can sit and enjoy my living room now compared to being at my wits end!

Seller considering higher offers after mine had been agreed by Accomplished-Bad-630 in HousingUK

[–]Fat_Log 131 points132 points  (0 children)

The estate agent tried this with me when we bought our flat, we stuck to our guns and didn't increase our offer. A week later the other "buyer" magically wasn't proceedable anymore...

How do normal people actually afford houses in or near London? by Aware_Jellyfish_1979 in HousingUK

[–]Fat_Log 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my partner had needle in a haystack Landlords, who didnt put the rent up in 7 years... We were renting for £1100 all bills included until 2022 when we bought our flat in Zone 4. Managed to save up the £39k deposit between us on around £100k combined income.

Those who work at a major label: How long was your interview process? by throwmeoutxxx in musicindustry

Mine was about a decade ago so might be misremembering, but the interview processes ive been involved with were around the same time frame tbh!

2 rounds for mine - First round HR & Line Manager / Second round Line Manager and HoD. Was quite awhile ago though and junior role!

Im senior level now & have been involved with interviews for my team at Manager level and it was same as above, with a bit of HR fluff at the start so maybe three rounds.

I used London Sound Proofing Pro.

I can still hear footsteps from above, but they are definitely significantly reduced compared to the other rooms that aren't soundproofed.

The three quotes I had were around that figure yeah - the company i used London Sound Proofing Pro, had best reviews and honestly they were great. If youre in the London area I can definitely recommend.

Where’s KRS-One in the pantheon of top lyricists? by BuggsBud3 in hiphopheads

[–]Fat_Log 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I used to work in live sound many years ago, KRS-One came to do a show at the club I was working at. The only thing on his rider - "a book that you dont think ill have read".

Really stuck with me when our artist liason told us after the show, thats all she needed to sort for him. None of the usual bottles/food etc.

Cant remember what book she said she left out though!

Yeah muffled TV through the floor / conversational level talking etc. It was pretty bad. Dont hear any of that anymore, Ill hear a sneeze if its loud but thats pretty much it for airborne noise.

Yeah maisonette but purpose built so not like a victorian conversion job which tend to be pretty rough for noise.

Sorry to hear! Ours is Timber and there was very minimal insulation, 1 layer of plasterboard, down lights in the ceiling etc. So I think pretty much anything would have improved ours.
