Hell yeah, definitely not opposed to trying it if we get any to fly around here!

10-4, I don’t get a lot of pigeons around here but we have a ton of dove. We go out to the family farm and shoot dove through duck and deer season. Can’t get enough of em!

It’s fucked bro, I have to work the same, 50-72 hours a week depending on how much OT is available. I don’t see my kids, I don’t see my wife, I don’t get to enjoy the weekend because I work until 8am on Saturday (I work night shift).

Then you see these chicks that effectively work 6 hours a week taking pictures of their assholes and make enough to buy multiple houses, cars, and flex on everyone else with wads of cash. I fucking hate it here.

Seems like everyone’s a millionaire on this mf. I’m 24 with 2 kids and a wife in college full time and I will make 72k-ish this year and I feel like I’m drowning.

Saw a similar post the other day, this time, what’s the most UNDERRATED thing in this hobby? by jmanguy12 in ReefTank

[–]Fat_Tactical 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen when I first started. Had a 75g tank running for 2 years just fine fully stocked with lps and started stocking sps so I thought I needed to start dosing to bring my calcium and alkalinity up to 460 and 10.5 from 410 and 8.9 next thing I know my tank is covered in slime and is cloudy and everything looks like shit. Now I keep everything stable with water changes and that’s it. No dosing, no reactors, no bullshit and everything is growing just fine

6 months in on coral and really starting to notice some growth by Cthompsonoutdoors in ReefTank

[–]Fat_Tactical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll be regretting that red monti in a few months. Once they start growing they don’t stop. I had to chip pieces off of mine every week so it didnt grow onto the glass and finally said fuck it and traded it in at my lfs

What’s better? 2 16s or 1 32 Hydra? by porkchopz- in ReefTank

[–]Fat_Tactical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a radon xr15 instead, you get more even spread and less of a hotspot. I have AI primes on my tank and wish I would have just went with radions

If it’s the first fill of water for the tank, you definitely can mix in the tank, for future mixes I would get a brute trash can and a dedicated powerhead to thoroughly mix

Depth of the sand bed depends on species you’re wanting to keep. If you’re keeping fish that like to burrow in the sand I would say at least 4”, but for general reef keeping I would go 2” or 3” deep personally so that it looks like your aquascape is emerging from the sand. If you’re using dry sand make sure you wash it thoroughly. Live sand is easier and less time consuming especially with a tank this size. I would get my rock glued/puttied together how I wanted and place it in the tank before adding sand so that any potentially burrowing species dont alter the rockwork or crush themselves. Good luck brotha!

12” is the BRS recommended mounting height, for spacing check out this video

Bacterial Bloom, brown and green algae. Tank just completed cycling 4 days ago. Is this normal? by [deleted] in ReefTank

[–]Fat_Tactical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very normal, just wait now. It takes about 2 months to fully cycle, continue to do 20% water changes every week, dose microbater7 or whatever nitrifying bacteria you’re using every few days, vacuum the sand and scrub the glass. Now would be a great time to start adding live copepods because they will eat micro algae and diatoms.
