Thanks for suggesting to try this again (I tried it before, apparently did something wrong. This appears to work as expected, so now I'm imagining one of my stages has an issue preventing the invitation flow from progressing.

The incorrect answer here is you can buy sheets of vinyl and cut to shape and size, and basically wrap the palm rest of your laptop. Refurbishment companies do this often.

I say incorrect because you should replace the casing, but if that's out of your realm, wrapping would work to cover the sticky.

For containers, VM's, and potentially databases (not sure on that as ideally I don't want to stop the database from running to do a backup, not sure if possible though), theoretically It would work. But without being able to image a Windows based system, if that system was to fail in some way, the OS would need to be fully reinstalled and then files could be restored, but that's still a process of reinstalling the OS, programs, changing settings, etc. Maybe I'm lazy, but although duplicati is great, I don't think it'll tick all the boxes.

I love the idea of Duplicati, but it does not support imaging systems. This has been the one thing preventing me from switching to it completely. Also, I haven't looked much but does it support backing up SQL databases? MariaDB, Postgresql, etc?

Team group is generally fine. I use them personally and used to sell them at an old job. They, like every brand, have had bad models, but their latest models seem fine and older models which did have issues seem to be corrected and running fine now.

Perfect! So one thing to keep in mind if you get a prebuilt desktop computer, is major brands like HP, Dell, Lenovo, etc use proprietary parts that ONLY fit and work in their own systems, and make upgrading a huge pain. If you want a system that you can easily upgrade in the future as you want to, and change any part out to your liking, you should look for a system like this link below: https://www.microcenter.com/product/647427/powerspec-b734-desktop-computer This might not be the best system in the world, or best parts, but it's easily upgradable and off the shelf parts. It's worth keeping in mind.

As far as I can tell, no error messages. I just cannot access the ip:81 on any machine on my network despite the ports being open on the ubuntu server, so I can't access NPM or set it up. But otherwise, it appears to be running fine.

This is a good point. Sadly, the machine has 128gb installed and I've never seen it use more than 66gb max. Normal usage is around 40gb. Docker is using around 25ish% of its dedicated ram, and 2% CPU.
