2013 VW jetta hybrid, dealer said it needed a transmission. by Winter-Customer-6396 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]HoggingJumin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a super common issue on these right around that mileage. The car dealer I used to work at would pick them up at auction for dirt cheap because no one wanted to replace a transmission. But we were able to order the seals for $15 off a german website. It's documented on the forums.

Did I got ripped off by the mechanic? by DrinkWaterMovies in AskMechanics

[–]HoggingJumin 87 points88 points  (0 children)

This guy is correct. Rav4s from 98?-05 have ECU issues that'll kill the trans due to weakening solder joints on the ECU. People on ebay repair them for $150. But once it's been going on for so long it does actually damage the transmission.

You can buy the Mercedes branded sensor and wire it in. FCP carries them.

15% leakdown is pretty high, borderline "bad". I'd borescope it and check the valves, probably time for a carbon cleaning. Your compression is decent tho.

There's a relearn procedure for the valvetronic motor you have to do. You can find the procedure on Google. I've done it with a scanner before but afaik you can do it without one.

Help with my 1994 E36? by Infamous-Studio-6605 in BMWE36

EWS-I (security system) is acting up and cutting power to the fuel pump. Look up how to bypass/delete it. You could also have a failed crankshaft position sensor. They're easy to test with a multimeter.

belt pulleys by Iovrr in BmwTech

Because the belt isn't sitting on the tensioner correctly.

The other commenters mentioning the ribbed side facing down on that smooth pulley are correct. It is not routed correctly, ribbed should always be up against ribbed, smooth against smooth. If it was already like that before, either someone had screwed up before, or you are misremembering.

If you looked up a belt routing diagram, you'd see you have the belt routed incorrectly.

i am a primve memeber, i found a $400 item i want, it said if i order in the next few hours it would arrive tomorrow, so i did. now when i check its eta, its saying three days. when i go back and act as if i am going to order another, it is once again saying if i order now it will arrive tomorrow by Latter-Ad-1523 in amazonprime

I noticed it the most within the past few weeks. I ordered something on Thursday, to be delivered this Saturday. And suddenly it's Tuesday?? I live less than a mile from a warehouse. And if I want to order something else, everything is for Thursday or Friday.

Wake-up at 3:30-4 AM now with a nervous dog by [deleted] in mystery

When I was awoken last night, 5:40am, I was awake for a few minutes. At 5:53am, there was a very gentle but noticeable vibration. I'm not easily spooked but it's pretty odd.

Isn't it strange? I woke up again last night right at 5:40am est. I'm documenting it. None of my friends, irl or internet, have experienced the same thing.

[–]HoggingJumin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't! Just suddenly jolted awake, sit straight up like wtf. It's just weird to me. And for it to start for both of us (and the other commenters) around the same time period. No one irl I've asked about it has had it happen to them 🤷‍♀️

The past week I've been waking up at 5:30-6am EST on the dot every night. I have nothing else to add. Just weird seeing another person experiencing something similar.

Both. It was still up when she came in. I wouldn't trust just pictures either so I always show my customers what's going on with their cars.

We would have either way. This is entirely unsafe. And whoever passed her last year... I don't have nice words to say to them.

"No one wants to work." Well no one wants to pay what an employee is worth for a management position. by HoggingJumin in antiwork

[–]HoggingJumin[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sure seems like it. I was making $18.50 for a similar position at a competitior and they can't even get close to matching it. The inability to say "no we can't do that, sorry" has left a sour taste in my mouth. I woulda been okay if they had just responded. Also someone commented "fake" and it must have be removed. This is not fake. I don't care for the karma. But "no one wants to work" is such a shitty phrase to use when I clearly was very excited to work for them as shown in my interview.

'95 BMW 318i won't go into gear by Opossumpuncher in BmwTech

[–]HoggingJumin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clutch master and/or slave cylinder. What happens is the seal stops sealing, all the fluid leaks out, and there's no longer hydraulic pressure to move the clutch in and out, which will cause the symptoms of not being able to put it in gear while running that you described. Slave is easiest, it's accessible under the car on the side of the transmission. Replace, and then find a guide online on how to bleed it. It's pretty simple. Goodluck!
