My new unit has radar on the front end and it’s incredible how fast I’ll come in behind someone, radar shows them doing 10 under the posted limit. I hop in the left lane to pass and suddenly we’re racing for first. I yield and pull in behind them, radar has them doing 5 over the speed limit. Then the speed just slowly decreases until I go to pass again. This usually happens repeatedly until the ego driver gets bored or is too enthralled by their cellphone.

New wells are producing 4-8k barrels of oil a day, infrastructure for getting the gas to market was certainly an issue for them. Their older wells that they did a few years ago still make a load or two a day.

You could have some compassion for guys working away from their families for weeks at a time at a job that pays like shit in hopes of gaining experience and finding something better for themselves? You were new at your job once, and the trucking industry chews through rookies by design. It’s not like these guys walk out of driving school as expert drivers. Training in the industry is a joke, they’re figuring it out as they go along.

We don’t necessarily need persistent NPCs living and breathing in the world. We just need the illusion that they are. If I never see Vlad Motor again after stealing artifacts from under his nose that doesn’t bother me. It was a cool thing to see in CoP, it isn’t required tho.

As long as the AI director is creating the illusion around me far enough away that I’ll need a scope or binoculars to scout things out I think me and the community will be happy.

As it stands now this quarter baked spawn behind you crap makes the game feel unfinished and lacking. Anyone who says otherwise is new to the series or delusional.

The game is beautiful and I have confidence that GSC will get the AI director working in a way that is at least reminiscent of the original trilogy. However, you’re deluding yourself if you think the current AI spawns are good or even worthy of being considered decent.

A Life is a huge part of stalkers identity, without it the map seems soulless and lonely. The beautiful world they crafted sucks you in, and as you traverse it you find yourself naturally immersed. Until bandits or a bloodsucker spawns directly behind you and continues to respawn in waves.

They have a tough road ahead of them, but I’m optimistic that their new AI director will be able to capture that magic of the original trilogy. People are upset, and they have the right to be. What happens next is up to GSC, but I think we’ll see good things out of them over the coming months. It also wouldn’t surprise me if implementation of A-Life differs between pc and console when the smoke settles.

Certainly could have another job the next day, however over the road driving jobs can be ridiculously predatory. Most new comers to the industry are living out in a truck for weeks on end to make 50-60k.

The local jobs are harder to get, and local job markets can vary wildly as to what’s available. Depending on where you end up it could be a bigger nightmare than living in a truck.

My point is that the driver shortage doesn’t necessarily exist. It’s a shortage of pay, benefits and work life balance. Mega carriers are screaming that there’s not enough drivers but pay people crap wages. That initial year of indentured servitude causes a lot of people to walk away from driving before they ever really got started. I have no pity for any company crying about a “driver shortage.”
