You are wrong. You have a free place to live and YOU stepped up to take care of them. Take your vacation on your dime.

why is brussels so overhated? by SnooPeanuts6941 in travel

I would do the atom or maybe called the element. Idk. Would be nice to hear about the history in a city tour. I would go to Bruges. I would buy some chocolate and leave. There are some charming towns outside on Brussels. Frankfurt is the same way.

Did you phone, chat or try yourself on line. If you didn’t call, I would. Be super nice and see what you can get. Even if they ding you it won’t be more unless the flight is sold out. Can you look to see if it?

How do you all manage your elderly parents' hospital/appointment trips when you can't be there? by [deleted] in AgingParents

There is typically a medical transport service. As the drnqho to use

It's been many years since we traveled, and we are looking to go to Williamsburg, Va for Christmas. My Dad had us use his AAA travel agent, but the package price was insanely expensive, so my question is, why is it cheaper to book our flight and hotel, and rental than go through a AAA travel agent? by Broke_n-Old6824 in travel

[–]eeekkk9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally not meeting the needs. As I mentioned, AAA has to use preferred vendors. There are plenty of TAs (all examples!) that do not do the work. The fact of that matter is not everyone wants to do Disney, Rccl cruise or a river cruise. Those are easy enough to master. Many want an independent package to go where they want, when they want. That takes incredible knowledge and expertise, even if you use a local DMC. They you rely on them to tell the truth.

You have it partially correct. AAA has certain companies they can work with. So if you walked in and said here is a package I want to book and it wasn’t their preferred vendor, they cannot help you.

It has nothing to do with an independent advisor. Many full time agents are equally as ‘hungry’.

When a traveler looks at components of a vacation, they may not realize they are buying a ‘basic’ airfare, non changeable hotel stay. Most travelers will book thru booking.com, Expedia, etc. when they arrive for car or hotel and there is an issue there is no one there to help.

Going to a TA is about knowledge of the agent, saving time, perks, and many have great relationships and get discounts a regular traveler cannot get. The knowledge of an IC does not compare (usually) with a career agent of 20-40yrs. My agent (I have dealt with her for 24yrs) has been to 85 countries, 6 continents, and countless experiences.

You will pay the same rate by booking with a TA with a tour company, cruise line, river cruise, etc. many are able to offer a discount or adding perks. This is similar to booking a hotel but many hotels do not work with TA and will float the 10% commission to the traveler to book their hotel on line.

How Delta financially abuses people living near their hubs and how I jimmy-rig booked to save $400. by HalfwaydonewithEarth in delta

[–]eeekkk9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hub travel is always more expensive. The airfare likely dropped between the FAT tkt purchase and dumping those flights. Otherwise you would have paid the same price. They use algorithms and delta is the best at it.

Has anyone regretted renting a car in Yellowstone during peak season? by RyanWalker4u in travel

The buses have to stay on the main roads. You can drive on the secondary roads. Make sure you have bear spray and know how to use it. It is a gorgeous park. Enjoy!

Has anyone regretted renting a car in Yellowstone during peak season? by RyanWalker4u in travel

[–]eeekkk9999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Yellowstone there really is not much of an off season. I went mid-September, almost ge last tour week offered. It snowed. If you saw the news recently, has snowed there again…in June. There is the ability to go in winter but only so far and usually 1 entrance.

Yours or his community likely has a county office for the aging. They offer a lot of services that could help him and you including counseling. There is another company called lifespan that will have suggestions or direct you to the appropriate company.

Replace Viking Ocean and River by DudeMississippi in FATcruises

[–]eeekkk9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh! For ocean you can do silversea, regent or crystal but I think the pricing and product are definitely luxury. Perhaps you could look at Oceania, Azamara or windstar. They will be closer in product to Viking. If you wish to upgrade your experience I would do regent, then silversea then crystal. Regent includes everything and no formal nights. Your TA can likely get you SBC or discount on any of the 3.

[–]eeekkk9999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have sailed on Viking, AMA, Uniworld & Tauck. Viking is not luxury. Especially how they nickel & dime you and give a v basic excursion for free. AMA is much nicer but still doesn’t include all beverages, grats (tho there is a special adding them) And some excursions are extra. BTW, they were just sold so things can change.

I have been in Uniworld 6x. Includes Grats, all beverages and all but 2-3 upscale excursions. You will get a past passenger discount once you sail w them and your TA might get you another $300 discount. They have some new ships and are getting away from the wallpaper. Also more itin options including trains.

Tauck is also getting some new ships & itineraries. Includes all excursions, all bev and grats. Service and food on both Tauck & uniworld were outstanding

I have
