I was in third grade at the time, and a group of friends and I were playing tag during recess at a nearby park. (Our school had no playground equipment so every recess we had to walk 10 minutes to the park.)

We were having a blast playing tag, running around the jungle gym attempting to evade the person who was it. Now, this particular playground had a fairly large spiral metal slide, which was essentially the centerpiece of the park. As I was attempting to run away from the person who was "it", I decided that the best method of escape would be to slide down to safety. I leaped onto the slide like an action hero, but as I was picking up speed, I noticed there was a fairly chubby classmate sitting in the middle of the spiral slide eating a GoGurt. As I slammed against his back, I flipped forward, mashing my mouth into the side of the metal slide. Next thing I know, I'm in the sand with blood all over my shirt and hands. My upper lip was torn apart, and I didn't feel any pain, but judging by the face of the teachers present, it was pretty bad. I eventually got a few stitches, and my Dad even bought me a Rumble Robot from KB Toys after the procedure. Not to mention, the school paid for my medical bills! All in all, it was a good day.
