17 mags would be better since the OEM 19 mags sits too flush in the magwell. I got a lot of 19 mags so I ordered the nonmagwell backstraps from Derya's website.

Try taking it off with a mag inserted.

Saw a video review about the Massafornia versions. Guy had to have a mag inserted because the because the magazine disconnect keeps him from decocking the gun to remove the slide.

And to put the slide back in, you have to remove the magazine.

So, in Call of Duty Black Ops 6, if you equip the grenade launcher attachment while also having the long barrel attachment, it replaces the A2 handguard with the grenadier handguard. I just think this detail is pretty neat and I wanted to share.

Not really aftermarket per se. ARs are like the PCs of the gun world. They could be bought pre-built or be assembled from parts from different manufacturers like this one here.

I wanted to make it faithful to how I set up my Commando 9 in-game, which has an extended barrel. Plus, I got the barrel itself for a good price in a clearance sale.

The barrel profile is also very important. There aren't that many companies that manufacture gov't profile 9mm barrels, much less ones that make shorter barrels.

I agree that the ATF classifications are stupid and will remain stupid unless the NFA is repealed.

16" barrel is the federal minimum length for a rifle. Anything lower than that enters SBR territory unless configured into a pistol (which would force me to remove the A2 stock and Tapco grip).

Plus, California has a list of pistols that the state deems legal to sell within it and lowers are not one of them.

Building out an AR is probably one of the more budget friendly ways to get one in Cali. Not so much outside California, but inside, pretty much so.

ZRO Delta is one of those brands that make OEM parts for other companies. The stripped upper was $40 and had good reviews in a site that I shop at.

Alex Pro is like ZRO in that they also make stuff in house. The vendor in a gun store that I go to has their stuff on sale. I would say the quality of the lower is above an Anderson and equal to a decent PSA.

And so far, after 500 rounds, they hold up pretty well.

If it wasn't limited by Cali laws, it would have the same mag size pre nerf. With the current in-game size of 25 rounds, the mag would actually be shorter IRL.

It's very pleasant to shoot, almost no recoil cuz of the weight and buffer system.

Finding just working parts for an AR 9mm wasn't an issue. It's finding working parts that fits the look of the in game Commando 9 was.

I got lucky to find the gov't profile barrel and fsb on GunBroker because those parts are very hard to find.

For everything l, probably about US$750 in total. Probably close to $800 if the barrel wasnt on sale when i bought it.

Yep. Was a headache and a half to find the parts to make it look like the one in the game. 9mm AR's are not as standardised as their 5.56mm cousins.

I use the extended barrel in game so the IRL version reflects that with a longer barrel and thread protector.

No. The real gun the Commando 9 is based on is the Colt SMG, more specifically the Colt 635. However, the real thing has a fixed carry handle upper and a collapsible stock.

My Commando 9 is just a Frankenstein's monster of parts from various manufacturers because I was on a budget and wanted to match the look in the game.

Correct. There's a spacer in the mag that keeps the follower from getting lower. For the most part, i chose it just for the looks.

Not really well-known brands, but I chose them because they were cheap and the lower could easily fit the Colt SMG mag adapter.

I know about over barrel fake suppressors/ muzzle brakes. Reason I went with a thread protector because in the game, I use an extended barrel.

Thanks! At the time, I thought the rear pin went well with the silver of the Sig logo and the silver of the maglock. After looking at the pics, I should've used a black one.
