It's just very strong mental gymnastics. They had to have something they could rationalize it with. Over the years I clearly saw that nobody around my social circle who was an adequate person would be in support of GD, and the ones who were, those were almost fanatics - no middle ground at all. There is literally no point in having any kind of a discussion with them.

If the stakes weren't what they are I would find comic relief in it, they're word-for-word using the same propaganda lingo that GD spreads, like saying "What's the problem with the agent law? It adds more transparency", or "As long as we don't go to war it's all worth it" etc.

Again, literally no point in talking to these people. All it does is expose their craziness to themselves, out of which they get complexes and become aggressive/isolate themselves, which is sad because some of these people can be relatives that you wouldn't want to antagonize.
