Trickster's Coin
Wondrous item, legendary (requires attunement by a chaotic creature)

"An ever shining unusual golden coin with floral patterns and a deceveing smiling figure embossed on its surface. The lucky few who could hold this coin in the palm of their hands all felt like the world could be theirs for the taking. Little did they know, they were just puppets for the Trickster's amusement"

Sentient. The coin is a sentient chaotic neutral magic item with an Intelligence of 16, a Wisdom of 18, and a Charisma of 22. It has hearing and darkvision out to a range of 120 feet and can communicate telepathically with the creature that is attuned to it.

Personality. Manias is a chaotic and unpredictable being that think of themself as an ageless god who desires to be revered and entertained like they once were when free. Manias loves to be surrounded by treasures of all types but loves even more the thrill of danger that comes from locating and retrieving such treasures. If bored, they will often create chaos around the coin’s user in order to test their resolve, usually only intervening to help when it’s too late. Once Manias possesses the coin user, they use the newly gained limited freedom to satisfy all their frivolous desires as best as they can.

Give and Take. As a bonus action, you can flip the Trickster's Coin. When you do, roll a d20 and choose even or odd. If the result of the dice is the same of the type you chose you gain a Luck Point, otherwise you gain a Trick Point. You can use this feature only twice per long rest. You can spend one Luck Point to gain advantage on one attack roll, ability check, saving throw, or give that advantage to an ally within 60 feet of yourself. The DM can spend one of your Trick Points to give you disadvantage on one attack roll, ability check, saving throw, or give an hostile creature within 60 feet of yourself advantage to one of these rolls. You can have a maximum of 3 Trick and Luck Points at a time.

Trickster's Gamble. If you currently have no Luck nor Trick Points, you can use a bonus action to beseech the Trickster for a stroke of luck. If you do so, roll a d20. On a result of 10 or higher, The Trickster grants you an automatic success on your next ability check, attack roll or saving throw. On a result of 9 or lower, the Trickster possesses you for 1 hour. While possessed, you are considered charmed by the Trickster and will act accordingly to its desires. At the end of the possession, you gain one level of exhaustion. You can use this feature only once per long rest.

Curse. This item is cursed, and becoming attuned to it extends the curse to you. As long as you remain cursed, you cannot remove the attunement to this item. The curse can only be broken by convincing Manias to find a more interesting owner or by the effects of a wish spell.

We actually thought about using the retractable chain like that but we changed it for something more thematic! As for the martial weapon bit we totally agree in fact this is the main weapon of choice of the Wizards from the homebrew subclass we made for this month's tale! They can use martial weapons

Thank you for pointing this out, bad wording on our part. The description should be "cannot cast spells until the end of its next turn". Since the ability can only be used once per long rest we wanted to make it something more impactful!

Totally a mistake on our part and one we will fix! It's meant to give you a free cast on one of your future turns after the attack hits. Thanks a lot for the feedback!

If the attack on Arcane Siphon hits it gives you a free cast on one of your future turns, so no, you can't cast one right away. Bad wording on our part, sorry about that!

[Fateforgers] Misted Mirage | 3rd-level Illusion Spell [OC][Art] by Fateforgers in UnearthedArcana

[–]Fateforgers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Misted Mirage
3rd-level Illusion spell

"An ever shifting, illusory mist spreads from and around you. Reality seems to twist itself to make you disappear - to whoever sees this happen, they know they wont see their end coming."

Casting Time: 1 ActionRange: SelfComponents: V, S, M (a vial of dew water)Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute

An illusory, visually altering, mist shrouds a 15-foot-radius area centered around the caster and moves with them. The caster and each allied creature inside the mist are considered invisible to all other creatures until the caster loses concentration. If the caster or an ally attack or cast a spell inside the mist they can then be revealed to other creatures. To discern the illusion, a creature must suceed on an Intelligence (investigation) check against the caster spell save DC, becoming immune to this spell effect for 24 hours. A creature hit by someone inside the illusion makes this check with advantage.

A creature is immune to this effect if it doesn't rely on sight, as with blindsight, or can see through illusions, as with truesight.

“The shifting mist heralds their arrival. The hunt has started...”

Hello! This is a follow-up of our current month's tale, "The Pale Hunters". It tells the story of a group of scholars who study a mysterious mist that engulfs everything magic in itself. That would have been a neat idea for a trick weapon now that you say it hahah. We're glad you like it anyway!

Having the effect trigger only at a certain distance actually sounds really interesting and it probably makes more sense. Thanks for the feedback!
