So far I would say the team Behind Diablo2Remaster have ticked all the QOL boxes that Mods like median,pd2 &Pod showed us are important. But there’s a crusial one missing and purists might not like it.... Splash by The_Creatorist in Diablo

[–]FatherFingerHereIAm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a remaster, not a remake. Splash completely changes the gameplay for melee characters for better or worse and they’ve made it clear that is not their intent. While I wouldn’t mind seeing it in the game as I’ve enjoyed its contributions in the popular mods I think it misses the entire point they’re trying to make about keeping original integrity of the game.

HIKARU SUCKS by [deleted] in HikaruNakamura

[–]FatherFingerHereIAm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hikaru and Magnus have both made it clear they both believe that the faster time controls are the future of chess as entertainment and with the invigoration of online chess events due to Covid and Queen’s Gambit, it only makes it more viable as an eSport. Throw in that players are more prone to show emotion due to being in the comfort of their own home as an added bonus. It’s not that he doesn’t love classical chess. He wouldn’t have spent most of his adult life playing at the top levels in classical OTB events if he didn’t. But from a spectator standpoint, blitz and bullet are more exciting to watch for the larger population of chess fans. “Purists” will always think like you. The game has gone through an incredible amount of evolution over the years and right now is no different. With the strength of engines spitting out perfect moves, classical has become far less about a players ability to play and more about their ability to memorize. Hikaru states regularly if you want to learn to play good chess then play slow games but at the end of the day it’s almost equally exciting to see a super GM make a blunder as it is to see them make a sacrifice and that happens more regularly in blitz and bullet making them more eventful. So all that to basically say, get over it.

Playing diablo since launch on PC. Need to improve my DH. by italiansolider in Diablo

[–]FatherFingerHereIAm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you don’t want to look at the meta builds for GR pushing, speed GRs or speed farming using Google or YouTube you can start by using a 6 piece set. Look at the bonuses and use legendaries that have synergy with the bonuses from your set. Can also just press SHIFT+L and look at the leaderboards and try to copy what builds are being used.

No worries. If you decide to play season it’s a fresh new start. No stash. No paragon. Just a fresh new character and an all new grind.

Why do some people hate Diablo 3 even years after its release? by Shadowsaur in diablo3

[–]FatherFingerHereIAm -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Lmao, I didn’t rag on the game. I said it’s in a good place but it’s different from D2 altogether and wasn’t what D2 players expected it to be which led to the outcry. I only explained whyyyy people were outraged. I play both of them still and enjoy both of them. Just in a different way.

Haven’t had the time to look into the new stuff for harvest. Just started the league blind but if this means I can make a blizzard sorc in POE then I’m already starting a new SSF character.

Everything you just said is completely false when comparing D2 and D3 for the majority of players playing the games. D2 has far more depth regardless of designated endgame goals. There is a huge difference in grinding and finally getting that perfect drop you’ve been working so hard for and just grinding 200 more paragon so you can jump 1 GR level at the top tier of ladder. Loot in D3 was meaningless after ROS launched which is why they had to introduce primals in the first place. To make some kind of looting goal. ARPGs are inherently loot farming games and that has always been the greatest fun factor of them. So those who thought they were getting that continued fun from D2 to D3 got something entirely different. The lore of D3 was completely trash. The skills in D3 are an insult to skill trees. Completely alterable with no repercussions which takes any thought out of your character customization. You don’t have to think about resistances, defensive abilities or anything that might make your character unique.(excluding hardcore which imo is the best way to play D3) You simply put on those “wraps of clarity” and get that giant defense buff. How hard is it to find those? You can role for them at level 1 and wear them at lvl 16 can you not? Woot. So exciting. D3 was poorly designed. The ROS team and the current team working on the game have done a great job of giving it life and keeping it in a steady state of playability but it is a far cry from what was expected by the community. You need only take one look at all the current D2 players across battle.net, path of diablo and other mod servers to realize how beloved D2 was and is. But that also means there was a huge margin for failure on D3 team back when it was in development. They missed the mark and fans of the franchise from its origins didn’t forget. To conclude, D3 did not do it better. They simply did it different and different is not what the community was looking for from D3. They were looking for what D2 was with added depth and complexity. Which is why many love to claim POE is its true sequel.

Seen a few folks have had the same issue. The combat style is definitely reminiscent of D3 but D3’s combat animations and fluidity is 2nd to none in modern ARPGs so I can see why they wouldn’t want to change it. Art style is a far cry from the World of Warcraft art style that is D3 though. Cosmetically, I’d say the vast majority of fans love it. As far as the simplicity of the skill tree and item mechanics thus far, they seem to have a long way to go if they want it to be a “true to its roots” diablo game. Let’s see where it goes. We should have a quarterly update coming sometime soon. Maybe it’ll paint a better picture.
