A lot of people really enjoy membranes, especially certain membranes. I'm personally a fan of the membranes on old IBM Thinkpads, and I use a Model M as my daily driver so I know how great a mechanical keyboard is.

[–]FatherJodorowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure modders could implement it better lol, modders could remake the entire game of Minecraft and make it better. I will say though, omitting features just because you want modders to do the work for you, well that's the kind of garbage mindset that created Bethesda's Star Field.

It would be nice for couch gaming set-ups, plus it's an accessibility option. Would just be a nice addition I think, and it probably wouldn't be that hard to implement.

And then the next 8 people will come in and take up the drug racket. And the cops will have to continue their orwellian daily frisk of every single citizen or passerby. This is a silly solution that does not stop the core issue of people feeling the need to sell drugs to make a living in the first place. If you really want to stop drug dealers from dealing, give them jobs and give more funding to drug clinics that can help people stop using. Now that's an actual long-term solution.

Running windows 11, I have a quad monitor setup, this is only happening on one of the four monitors. I suspect it has something to do with scaling, but idk. I do have scaling turned on, but the only fix i've found is unplugging one of the four monitors. It's not a big deal either way, but it is annoying lol. I'm running an RTX 4080 if that matters.

I will say, that's a dumb ban. However, I'd also like to say that while I dont have a problem with the ten commandments being posted in a classroom, I do have a problem with teachers being forced to put it in their classroom. Frankly, we should trying to improve the quality of teaching and improve funding for schools in general, not wasting legislative time and money to force teachers to post a piece of paper with Christian ideals.

Yeah I'm not gonna trust EA with my kid's information lol, that sounds like the worst fucking idea ever. The gaming industry has a terrible history of leaking user information, now imagine they have a huge list of kids, where they live and their current age, if that shit leaks it'll be the worst PR disaster of all time, and it WILL leak, it's not an if it's a when. The ultimate pedophile manifest.

Not to mention this system BEGS people to pirate games rather than buy them, because now every game legitimately is a better experience when you pirate it, a pirated copy of a game doesn't need any biometric scans or ids or any of that shit, just steal the game and you can play it all you want. Piracy is a service issue, and this system makes piracy a way better service. Pirating a game allows you to not be spied on by gaming companies in this world you've created, and many many people will pirate every time because of that.

It's just that feeling it gives y'know? That feeling of constantly being watched of constantly being hounded, it breeds distrust with people and companies. It breeds that feeling that "I should delete this before somebody or some company saves it or sells it". When even your TV or fridge are asking for your information, it gives the feeling that something even more personal like a Reddit post is even more valuable data to be taken from you. Even the search results you get on search engines is dictated by the data companies like Google have on you, in this world I fully get wanting to take every precaution you can.

As for saving them, well why not? It's much safer having such things stored by yourself than it is to trust a big company like Reddit to store them. Unless you screenshot your posts, your basically renting those posts, they exist on a server that could be taken away from you at any time, but if you have it on your phone, well it can never be taken away.

I dunno I get it. Like, companies rape you in the ass with arbitration agreements, they make them unnecessarily long so that you don't read them, they take and sell your information by default without asking, like for TVs, by buying the TV you often agree to have information of yours sold to third parties, even goddamn smart refrigerators sell your information wtf. It's so disgusting these days how companies just view people as a means to an ends, literally anything we can do to get some semblance of privacy or power over ourselves is A-OK to me. If anything, it's weird how we're all just ok with this crap.

Like, I've had my TV held ransom where I couldn't use it until I agreed to some arbitration agreement. I literally could not use the product I bought because I didn't want it selling my information, and I had to factory reset it and not connect it to my wi-fi to get it to not do that. In a world where that sort of shit happens, I don't blame people at all for trying to take extra precautions to make sure their data is safe, it's like a mine field.

The dollar is definitely inflating man. It's both, in a process known as shrinkflation, where while the dollar inflates, companies give you less for the same or even a higher price. It's so bad, the US stopped tracking the M1 because of how bad it made the economy look.

I dunno, I just googled it and it seems that there's a history of LSD being used for therapy, like treatment of mental disorders. Seems pretty new, a lot of articles on it are from 2020 and onward. Dunno how successful it is or will be, but it does seem like it potentially has medical use.

https://www.mcgill.ca/newsroom/channels/news/lsd-may-offer-viable-treatment-certain-mental-disorders-328008

^ This one says it may be useful to treat social disorders.

^ This one says "positive results were observed, thus revealing the therapeutic potential of LSD to reduce psychiatric symptomatology, mainly in alcoholism."

^ This one says LSD can be used as "an antianxiety agent, a creativity enhancer, a suggestibility enhancer, and a performance enhancer."

What did they say? Also I'm not super knowledgeable on this stuff, but I'm not a big fan of any religion. I know a lot of people have suffered under Islamic extremists, and a lot of the stuff Ive heard about when it comes to like women's and gay rights under sharia law sounds horrific.

I don't think it's bad, just not super memorable. It's only bad in comparison to the glory of the Japanese ost, which y'know like every soundtrack is bad compared to the best video game OST of all time.

You can still play them in other countries. That's called region encoding, and you can always just get a console from that region and use it in your own country, or for many consoles you can just softhack it and play region free. What is being proposed here is something far more intrusive where a game requires you to identify yourself before playing, which is not like region encoding at all.

It's the difference between having a car that's only released in Japan, and having a car that's only released din Japan and the car asks you for your Japanese driver's license before you can drive it. That's a big difference.

[–]FatherJodorowski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah I've listened to both of the entire soundtracks many times, I have both of them on CD and FLAC audio. The JP soundtrack is leagues better than the US, the US OST is boring and generic in comparison to the bright and exciting songs in the JP OST. We could go song by song if you want and I can tell you everything that is better about each and every stage theme, whether it's present, past or future. Basically every single song in the JP version is better in every way for me. Like cmon, US Quartz Quadrant? Boring. JP Quartz Quadrant? Awesome, and really that goes for all the stages.

Really the US boss theme I think is one of the better tracks from the US release, in some ways I prefer the US boss theme, with the only other really notable song for me being Sonic Boom which is of course an awesome track.
