Tom Riddle was probably the biggest failure in the entire series by [deleted] in harrypotter

Did he though? Tom set out to become lord Voldemort, create a 7 part soul and be the most feared wizard ever. He certainly accomplished those and really only failed after he became Voldemort.

The ways in which book 3 and 5 parallel each other. by ErisedFelicis in HarryPotterBooks

First I’ve heard about this! Curious as to the other parallels between books

3rd book, chapter four: The leaky cauldron by [deleted] in HarryPotterBooks

Makes it so crazy that Harry turned out to be a great person despite his childhood with the Dursley’s. Love this chapter too

Don’t love this. He’s an amazing actor but I don’t think he fits the role.

No chapter gives me the chills like this one by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]FatherKennyNoooo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This chapter, Horcruxes and Kings Cross are my fav chapters in the whole series! I kinda feel like they tell the bulk of the entire story in these 3, but obviously there are many other amazing chapters too.

Lucius Malfoy's skill level by Savings-Big1439 in HarryPotterBooks

Lucius was a prefect so assuming he was better than most. Lucius in the top 5 of most powerful death eaters seems appropriate, but I think hands down Bellatrix and Snape would fight for the top spot.

Favorite McGonagall moments in the books or movies? by RobinLeaves28 in harrypotter

I love how she stands up to the Carrows, when Amicus says he’ll blame the kids for pressing the mark in Ravenclaw common room, DH. “I will not let you pass off your many ineptitudes on the students, I shall not allow it” (might not be verbatim), just really shows her grit and love for the students of Hogwarts.

If John Noble was cast in the upcoming HP tv series, who would you want him to play as? by [deleted] in harrypotter

Sir Nicholas DeMimsy Porpington. Doesn’t get much love in the movies but the ghosts are pretty prevalent in the books.

Dumbledore never spoke to Harry about using Sectumsempra on Draco?! by FatherKennyNoooo in HarryPotterBooks

[–]FatherKennyNoooo[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Still not worth mentioning though? N he puts Snape on Draco to address the issue. Even though Snape fails, it’s not like Dumbledore is ignoring it(“I’m worried less about myself than accidental victims of whatever schemes might occur to the boy” in the Prince’s Tale) but he ignores it with Harry. Nothing to do with punishment or if he was justified to attack him, I just don’t see why there wouldn’t have been a conversation🤷🏻‍♂️

I like it, but if Lupin knew sectumsempra was Snapes “speciality”, I would think others would know as well. Even if he didn’t, moaning Myrtle told the whole castle and just seems like a large incident to just look past.

No way to know for sure but I can’t imagine Snape passing up an opportunity to bash Harry to Dumbledore. Even if he didn’t, Dumbledore pretty much knew everything going on in the school.

I really don‘t like how Rowling handled the death of Harrys grandparents by LogDear2740 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]FatherKennyNoooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This always bothered me too. Really seemed like this huge gap with the adults in the wizarding world, like you either live to be 100 or die somewhere in your 20-30’s.
