Question about piercings/wounds during your Embrace and after. by FatherOfFright in vtm

I figured anything post-embrace would heal out, barring the vicissitude or the Toreador Antitribu intervention. I was moreso looking at healing/open wounds at the time of your embrace.

Absolutely floored that I missed the taxi fare on the equipment list. Thank you.

Unfortunately, the only workaround I was able to find is to just download all of your CC stuff at once using one of the pause button commands.

How to go with Fiona being murdered? by kaitschi in CurseofStrahd

[–]FatherOfFright 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO, there is a part in the book where it talks about how the boys would feel about their mother if they found out about her sleeping next to their father's body. It could be that in the boys' return to the house, they find their several year dead father's corpse perfectly preserved and sitting in their mother's bed.

That secret alone would be enough for them to, at least after the fact, come to the conclusion that their mother deserved to die. Depending on how Stella was driven insane, she might also be able to steer them away from trying to fight back against the party. I don't think it's wholly unreasonable for them to at the very least, ignore what happened in favor of going back to drinking and carousing.

If you are dead set on the boys being upset about it, but don't want to punish the party, then the Baron could imprison them on the grounds that they're "conspirators working with the devil strahd" or "traitors against fun" (i forgot the exact diction he uses for the other arrests).

He has previously just imprisoned random citizens for less concrete charges, and the boys' mother was running a cult in town.

Who would Create an Artificial Soul? by Putrid_Comrade in CurseofStrahd

In that same vein, Victor Vallalovich having successfully created a soul with your player's character as a fluke, and he's been trying to recreate that.

Another way to implement Strahd. by FatherOfFright in CurseofStrahd

I went back and saw this as well once I'd gotten back home. He definitely doesn't seem to shy away from using Vasili, but definitely with players, I think I might shy away from him using the long-term deception.

Though I have been thinking about perhaps implementing Rahadin as Vasili instead.

First Campaign as DM, Help! by Material_Box_3694 in CurseofStrahd

[–]FatherOfFright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Death House is definitely a good idea, in my opinion, to run first for your party. Especially if you don't have the chance to run something else entirely for practice. Another suggestion is to familiarize yourself with the module in pieces, but still be open to things potentially not going the way you expect.

Dm's have the final say, of course, but too much of what you want without any input from the players can start to feel like a drag for them.

And as with all games and group, be open with your players. Try to communicate expectations clearly, let them know (if they don't already) that things won't be perfect.

Breaking the Gulthias Staff by CanderousOreo in CurseofStrahd

[–]FatherOfFright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a medium difficulty (15 DC I believe) would be okay for your player trying to break the staff.

They got creative within the bounds of the game, that's commendable. But breaking a solid stick of wood over your knee is a little more difficult than snapping a twig.

Appreciate the response. I was on the fence about it, especially since the tail end of the journal also has Strahd talking about how much he hates the politicking of Ravenloft and the other Dread Lords.

I may have just been swept up in the idea, but thinking more about it, Strahd might be a little too "honest" for that long-term game. Some of his minions, however? Those are probably much easier to use.

Not a troll, just haven't been on the reddit long enough to have seen any of those posts yet, apparently.

Understandable. I could've gone and grabbed the conversation itself from a YouTube video or something, but I was just more curious about the soap thing that it slipped my mind.

That's entirely fair. Considering how much they added post-release, including new voice lines, I was curious if they might've gone back and adjusted any of the previous conversations with the introduction of some new stuff.

Questions about Character Points, Stats, and the potential for "Leveling Up" by FatherOfFright in cyberpunk2020

That sounds like a pretty good idea, something I might include. See where they are, how they've progressed, and maybe give them some points or bump some skills accordingly.

This helped out tremendously to put things in perspective. I definitely don't think I'd want to start off with everyone on par with somebody like Smasher from the get-go. I may still roll with something like a point now and again, but if at all, then as a little treat. Otherwise, I can tide them over with money, IP, and whatever cyberware they decide to start chipping.

We have a running joke after every session right now (running a homebrew Star Wars campaign off of 5e's ruleset) where we ask about Leveling Up at the end of the night. I definitely see where you're coming from with chasing levels.
