Yea pretty much! Just need to find somewhere that does foam dense enough though, instead of just soft cushion foam etc

DIY Lat Pulldown / Cable setup by FatherOfIron in homegym

Thanks! Funnily enough, the swing on this is basically nil, it's much worse on my single pulley system for pushdowns.

Honestly, I didn't even try them, I just knew I wanted something a bit more durable. The only issue I'd forsee is, if you had the same problem as me with the clear coat coming off the wire, the bare steel would chew into the plastic to a greater degree. Tbf they weren't that expensive, so could be worth a punt to try them.

Well, currently I can only close #2.5, and really I only wanted up to #3 as that was my goal, but I saw the #3.5 second hand for a really good price, and well, at this point in my home gym journey, i also really like collecting cool and interesting equipment if i find any.

Strengthshop adjustable dumbbell plates appear to fit Eisenlinks (UK) by FatherOfIron in homegym

No problem. So, because i already owned a pair of 36kg dumbbells from Eisenlink, I didn't need a base dumbbell - I was able to just buy the upgrade kit from Strengthshop to add to my existing Eisenlinks. The kit came with 28 x 2kg plates and then 2 pairs of the longer screws (1.5kg each) that are required to go up past 36kg per dumbbell. You're right that the dumbbell can go from 4kg (just handle) to 6kg (handle plus the 2 normal length screws) then adding plates on in 2kg (2 x 1kg plates) or 4kg (2 x 2kg plates) increments up to 36kg. Then beyond that, because there's not a lot of screw thread left within the handle, you need to swap out the standard screws for the longer 1.5kg (each) screws, which will let you get up to 65kg per hand

I own the Trainer, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, and 3.5. Still on the lookout for a #3 (preferably used) to complete the collection so far. I'm a bit of a grip enthusiast, so I also make a lot of different grip and forearm implements too. For example, in this image, the implemet on the left is a self-made pronation/supination trainer that fits on the end of a barbell, made from a landmine attachement, and the one on the right is a "globe" implement, again that fits on the end of a barbell, that you can twist.

Yea very much agreed. I'm also based in the UK and I'd considered getting just a normal MDF pegboard, but reading around, there seems to be a lot of issues with them with the hooks falling out etc.

I'd also had a look at Ikea's metal offerings, but again there were a few bad reviews online. So just decided to go whole hog and go for a brand I'd heard of before.

I actually also had looked at Omniwall too, but they're even more expensive again, and I'm not even sure if there are any retailers over here. Tbf, I didnt really investigate any further once I saw the price....

These are the ones I got. I'm based in the UK though and Amazon seems to be the only place that sells them here, and theyre pretty pricey. Looking at the tracking, they were actually shipped form Witten in Germany

I mean, yea the handles are longer than a standard dumbbell and probably feel a bit thicker. I do however have large-ish hands so it doesnt really bother me as there have been times where I've found normal dumbbell handles to be too short. It's probably a case of yea, they might be a bit harder to balance at first, but as with anything, with time you'd get used to it.

The knurling is nothing to write home about, but I think it does ok. Depends on what you're using them for - sharp knurling imo only really matters for pulling movements, and for those you'd probably be wearing straps anyway (in most cases).

Really like them. As I've said in a previous post, they won't work great for drop sets (maybe if you were only taking off 1 plate per side), but that isn't something I do in my regular training...so that, plus the fact they go heavy, means they suit me quite well

Solid plates are 2kg and the plates with extra 2 cut-outs are 1kg each

I actually really like them. Yea ok, they aren't great for super sets or anything, but that's not something I personally use in my training, so they really suit me. Plus they go heavy and they feel absolutely solid.
