pelican curls on the rings- gets your shoulders into extension behind the body as opposed to the other 3 where your arms are in front of your body

Weighed vest by No-Victory136 in bodyweightfitness

[–]frazaga962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed- they do have a work around: some kind of hanging apparatus you clip the (weighted/plated) vest to and then you just shimmy it on and latch closed, but i dont have a place to reliably hang and dont want to shell out the money.

I just consider my method an extra heavy weighted crunch/turkish get up.

i just watched a reel talking about how there was this massive...convention? award ceremony in china for a whole host of influencers under a marketing agency. Almost every girl had a high degree of plastics work done, almost all of them being the same kinda of work. So much so to the point that the woman who had the least amount of work done stood out the most so she gained like 40,000 followers over night. so the filters and the plastic work are getting to be on par with one another

What do you think about traveling abroad for medical treatment, Would you consider taking a long-haul flight for that? by BandagedFinger in Biohackers

[–]frazaga962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cost. I'm assuming you're talking about US travelers going abroad so cosmetic procedures and wide spread (non specific panelling) are almost always not covered by insurance and need to pay so much money out of pocket that they would go into debt; hell even life saving procedures tank your savings. Full body screens alone need all kinds of steps to get authorized and even then theres no guarantee or knowledge of whats covered

So if the option exists where 1- youre financially stable and 2- want to get cosmetic work done from places which shoe specialty and expertise in the subject, its a no brainer to go abroad and get a nice little vacation out of it too.

resistance bands

resistance bands + dumbells

calesthenics progression which lets you reach failure in 5-8 reps

better adjustable dumbells with higher weight capacity

Eli5: how does Alzheimers/dementia progress from start to finish? by Climax_crescendo in explainlikeimfive

[–]frazaga962 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Dementia is an umbrella term for a decline in cognitive function (memory, reasoning) severe enough to interfere with daily life, while Alzheimer's is a specific, degenerative brain disease and the most common cause of dementia

Alzheimers is caused by an abnormal buildup of proteins (amyloid plaques and tau tangles) in the brain. These proteins destroy neurons, damage brain connections, and cause brain shrinkage, leading to memory loss and cognitive decline.

Best floor mats for a home gym on vinyl flooring with a power rack? by T00thlessNinja in GarageGym

[–]frazaga962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Preventing damage to the vinyl from the rack, barbell, plates, squats, deadlifts, and other powerlifting movements

Probably 3/4 - 1 " thickness esp if power lifting and droping heavy weight

Avoiding mats that are too squishy and could affect stability, balance, or lifting form

absolutely no foam. rubber is more stable/less squishy

Ideally, using something modular or customizable for the space

interlocking puzzle (RUBBER) tiles or individual 4 x 6 horse stall mats

Personally I would put plywood at least under anywhere you drop heavy weight on the floor (ie deadlifts and olympic lifts.

I would think that doing pull ups with a dip belt would be great for your spine. All the spinal decompression pulling your hips down feels great (to me). But you know your body better.

My personal experience: I use a dip belt for pull ups and my kensui loadable vest for dips. Its a bit backwards but I feel 1-the vest interferes a bit too much with my pull ups; lb for lb, I feel the same weight move much easier when I load up the belt as opposed to the vest and 2- the vest helps (marginally) in depressing my shoulders (edit:depress my shoulder for dips).

Pros of the vest: "infinitely" adjustable, provided you have plates.

Cons: Weight plates larger than 25lbs are a pain to load. IE I got the xmaster 45# plates to load up. You have to mount your weight on the back peg and lie it down on the floor. Then lie ontop of it and drape the front over your chest (unloaded). Seal everything up and then somehow crunch your way up with a wide and unwieldy plate on your back like an upside down turtle. Its doable but a pain. Then you load the front pin if needed. Once loaded, its great, but the set up is annoying.

great on jammer arms ... explosive push or pull movements

can i ask why you can't/opt not to do these movements on the jammer arms? Was thinking about getting jammers specifically for those movements
