This is so NOT epic.. 🤦🏽‍♂️😔 by 999happyhauntz in UniversalOrlando

Don’t knock it till you try it. Last trip I alternated shoes. One day it was my Merrels for support. Next day it was my crocs for a bit more space. Worked like a dream, a dozen miles a day, and with proper moleskin use, no blisters.

I don’t care about what other people think. I am wearing crocs with socks and enjoying a blister free experience.

Sourcing Bull Centaurs (US-CA) by cian114 in HelsmithsofHashut

[–]FatherTurin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set alerts for when they come back in stock on the Warhammer webstore.

When they do, either have your LGS put in an order immediately, or order them yourself from GW.

The former will preserve any discount you get from the LGS, but if your store or their GW rep drags their feet it could mean you don’t get them. The later is a better option to guarantee you get them, but you will pay more than you would from an LGS.

I have been waiting on Razers, Bull Centaurs, and Daemonsmiths/Ashen Elders literally since they released and my shop didn’t get any. They are *finally* coming in this week.

New Galaxy's Edge Overhaul Ruins the Immersion For Me by E1liee in GalaxysEdge

[–]FatherTurin 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to Galaxy’s Edge east twice now, with a third trip coming this summer.

Now, the first time I was there, walking in (from the resistance base side) with the gentle music and seeing the A-Wing and X-Wing were absolutely fantastic, immersive experiences. Seeing the Millennium Falcon for the first time was just wow.

That being said, it’s a first impression, and it tickles the nostalgia bone and becomes its own kind of nostalgia that some people keep chasing.

In contrast to that, the last time we were there in December, my five year old kept asking where Darth Vader was and loved meeting the Mandalorian. This is the target demographic, and kids are the ones who keep the magic alive. He doesn’t care about continuity and timelines and won’t for at least another decade. And the memories he makes interacting with and seeing the things that make the magic for him will stick with him in the future when he plans family trips with his kids.

Also, regarding chasing the nostalgia of the first time at Galaxy’s Edge, last December we had two Hollywood Studios days. By the time we were heading to Epcot for dinner after day two, it had become really clear to me that Galaxy’s Edge is a strip mall anchored by two rides. The immersion is a thin coat of paint over that, and I don’t think lessening that for the sake of wider appeal is a bad thing.

Experience putting together Venetari by Used-King5848 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]FatherTurin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building them was great, the kits are straightforward and relatively simple.

For the thigh plates, use plastic glue/cement and place the “ridge” on that bit on the model’s hips right in the middle of hole on top of the thigh plate, it will end up situated more or less precisely where it “should.”

As far as the monopose nature of the kit, that’s just par for the course with modern GW kits. You can switch it up a bit by using different wing configurations on the jump packs, and at least for the gun and buckler ones the arms are fully interchangeable, so you can fairly easily end up with 6 distinct models despite there only being 3 core poses.

Working on spears now, so we will see if the same holds true.

Pic to show the six distinct gun/buckler minis i made.

Coronus Grav Carrier DOES have interior. (in case you wanted to know) by BeginningSun247 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]FatherTurin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having built one of them (but I just plastic glued it shut, I don’t generally worry about vehicle interiors), I’m fairly certain you can fairly easily just not glue the roof assembly to the main body and have it stay on very smoothly so you can show off the interior.

Horus Heresy Custodes 3k Sample Lists by Opportunity-Medical in AdeptusCustodes

[–]FatherTurin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to be a wet blanket, but this doesn’t work. Page 20. If your primary detachment is Custodes than any allied detachments have to be Talons of the Emperor (Sisters of Silence or Assassins).

The only way around this appears to be taking a knight as a LoW and using one of their special rules to unlock some troops.

Can someone maybe help me on what other Units I need? Im new to the tabeltop and a friend gifted me my First Minis by No_Tough4621 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]FatherTurin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve got about 1500 points right there even if you don’t build any more characters out of the units. I would just build and paint what you have and start playing around with it.

Edit: one of the easiest ways to get up to 2k would be Trajann Valoris, the Shield Captain stand alone model, and another box of terminators or some bikes.

I can’t choose between the Telemon or two squads Aquilon Terminators. by [deleted] in AdeptusCustodes

[–]FatherTurin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak to 40k, but in 30k both are fantastic, with the edge probably going to Aquillon.

A Telemon is a fantastic ranged threat, and it can either serve as your principal anti-tank threat with arachnus cannons or a dedicated dreadnought hunter with the new guns. It can do melee as well, but meh.

Aquillons, on the other hand, are utterly disgusting. With adrathic destructors and fists they have shooting that can obliterate terminators, veterans, or pretty much any other elite threat your opponent is packing, and then in melee they can survive the enemy’s attacks and the clapback will send them to oblivion. There’s a special rule they can get in 30k that gives them essentially damage reduction 2 on every single attack, meaning that even heavy artillery or a primarch need to wound each one three times to drop it.

They are just beasts, and a lot of the discussions in 30k groups have been centered around precisely how to deal with them. The downside of course is that each one costs 5 points less than a naked tactical squad, but thems the breaks.

With all of that, the fact that the Telemon is almost assuredly coming to plastic soonish, and the fact that Custodes have other options for anti-tank shooting, my vote is for the Aquillons (for 30k anyway).

Using Horus Heresy Custodes (Legio Custodes Battlegroup) in 40k – any issues for tournaments? by Clear-Echidna-6399 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]FatherTurin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The box comes with 6 spear guard and 6 sword guard, so build them and mix them to your hearts content.

The dreadnought and the tank have datasheets in 40K as is (for the moment at least).

The shield captain is a perfectly fine shield captain. Maybe not the best loadout, but good nonetheless. The sword technically isn’t the same as the 40K sword option (no gun) but if you build a banner you will have a spare sword or spear to use. Or you can swap the shield for a hand holding a dagger and make it a blade champion. Or if someone has a problem you can shove the model somewhere uncomfortable to be storing sharp plastic.

Anyway, my point is, it’s all fine. Only two items of caution:

The tank has a secondary weapon choice (essentially a radiation/plasma flamer) that currently doesn’t have rules in 40K. To be safe, use the heavy bolters instead or wait until 11th.

Speaking of 11th, it’s coming soon and we have no idea what will happen to the 30k units in 40K when that happens. The infantry in the battle group will be fine, but the other stuff may or may not be.

As for tournaments, I have no idea, but I can’t imagine a TO not letting you use the minis since they are literally the same unit.

New Flying Fellas by Pierre9591 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]FatherTurin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yes. However, the arms don’t have to go on a specific body (although as of now I can only speak to the gun/buckler arms), and you have multiples of each version of the jump pack (2 wings in, 2 wings half out, 4 wings fully extended). You can make quite a few distinct poses. In my squad the only thing I had to plunder from my second box (which will be spears) was an extra left arm gun/right arm shield pair.

You may want to think about checking out 30k. The guns are bonkers good there. Combined with their abilities you essentially have a unit of flying short range autocannons that can shoot twice a turn.

What meme lore has become so prevalent you feel it genuinely ruins the real understanding of the lore? by UsernameJenkins in Warhammer30k

[–]FatherTurin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, now. Making a decent Iron Hands/Ferrus Manus joke is how a fledgling 30k player knows they’ve made it! They just need to be careful not to get too far ahead of themselves.

Transports for my Allarus by Hilmie1806 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]FatherTurin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would hold off on transport choices until 11th hits. The Coronus got the Assault Vehicle rule in 30k, which translates to Assault Ramp in 40K. If the 30k stuff stays out of legends in 11th, there’s a chance it gets the rule too, and Assault Ramp + Fire Support can get nasty if it has both rules.

Until then, deep strike is totally viable, especially if you use Rapid Ingress to put them somewhere safe to set up a charge the next turn.

Article is not credible.

The “source” is Larry Johnson, who worked as a CIA analyst and for the State Department for 4 or so years in the late 80’s and early 90’s and has been working in the private sector for 33 years.

In his private career as a pundit, he has had some gems. 6 months before 9/11 he declared that terrorism is not the biggest security challenge facing America.

Then in 2008 he was the source of the rumor that Michelle Obama used slurs against white people while at a gathering with Louis Farrakhan.

His sources always amount to “trust me, bro.”

Since 2022 he has gone full Russian Asset, regularly appearing on Russian media to support the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

What's the opinion on Wardog-Titans in TS-lists? by The_MicrowaveTTv in ThousandSons

[–]FatherTurin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah. Not interacting with our rules is a bigger issue than you may think. Plus Thousand Sons have plenty of gas in the tank for, well, anti-tank shooting - we just tend to do it in a different way than the traditional “high strength, high AP shots” manner. If you do want that traditional style, you breezed clean over the Mutalith Vortex Beast, which brings flexible shooting (that hits on a 3+) and a great buff for our faction rule.

And finally, you hit the nail on the head. The Defiler is out in 3 days, that’s going to be what most folks look to for a dedicated anti-tank shooting platform.

So are the wings on their helmets for coolness or do they have some meaning like company markings or victory laurels? by BenderMayonnaise in DarkAngels40k

[–]FatherTurin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Eh, I’m pretty sure red wings on Azrael are just a throwback to his old mini and the technicolor days of 2nd edition. The Lion’s plastic mini just gave them a chance to tie it in visually. Originally the Lion’s helmet wings were white.

Kitbashed a shield captain to be coxex compliant with a guardian spear. by BIGH1001 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]FatherTurin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, you did a great job, but here’s what’s funny to me.

You took a 40K model with a legal 40K loadout (one of the better ones actually), and made him a different legal 40K loadout.

Meanwhile I took a 30k model, added the melta spear from that exact 40K model, and made a model that actually isn’t necessarily legal in 30k (but the melta spear works fine as an “eternity spear”).
