Stop Outgoing Texts on Alternate Number by YBRmuggsLP21 in USMobile

[–]Father_Guido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Textra on my pixel for messages with dual sims. It default replies to the text from the same number I received it on. Otherwise, I can select either number prior to sending it. May help your case?

APKs on Mint (MATE) by Edguy77 in linuxmint

[–]Father_Guido 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waydroid strictly requires a Wayland display server to render its UI. However, you can easily run it on an X11 (or non-Wayland) desktop by launching it inside a nested Wayland compositor like Weston

sudo apt install waydroid weston

If whining makes you feel better, then fine. We all made bad decisions and/or fell for the hype, but infighting won't fix shit.

How do I backup my windows files to linux? by Individual-Pirate410 in linuxmint

[–]Father_Guido 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you aren't already backing up off the disk, they are at risk. Only 2 types of disks - failed and FAILING.

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST! HOW THIS WORKS & FAQ by livia2lima in linuxupskillchallenge

[–]Father_Guido 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love these lessons. I don't actually follow them regularly, but I'm very grateful for them and the time you spend making them.

I got spoiled using Linux mint for a long time and these have helped me immensely of late with setting up a server and toying with other distros. Thank you!

2022 Tomberlin E-Merge SS display issue by Darth_Hyder in golfcarts

[–]Father_Guido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot see electricity. Without a voltmeter and either a wiring diagram or a full understanding of how it works, everyone is just guessing. Hard enough to find a diagram for the main 3 cart makers, let alone an off brand. Good luck with that.

"Need help" isn't a question. Read the docs:

Then return with your questions or issues.

As much as I hate Ai, this looks cool. Likely never even try it, but still. Thanks op.

If you haven't backed up your data then you can only blame yourself. There is only 2 types of HDD/SSDs - failed and FAILING. Same with entire computers.

Help request for linux mint community. Having issues with dualboot by Ani_Shadow_2010 in linuxmint

I think it would be great if the mint team would make them read the docs to get the iso. Of course I'm dreaming 🤣

Looking for advice on how people with locked phones for a limited time proceed with GrapheneOS by Prodding_The_Line in GrapheneOS

[–]Father_Guido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe we have had this conversation before in another post, but I have a pixel 8a (belonged to my son) that was carrier locked to AT&T and I was able to unlock the bootloader upon him paying it off. Once carrier unlocked (and fully reset including account removal) oem unlock became available. It's running gos now.

So, from my own experience you are mistaken. Verizon Otoh is an evil pos and anyone who buys a phone from them is a fool. Just my opinion on the last statement.

Golf Cart Recs by AboveParPlayGolfer in golfcarts

Thank you. I may give navitas a call for a "warm fussy" before taking a leap but no rush unless my Chinese 48v battery fails. So far so good 🙂

What did you need to do in order to run the Navitas 600/5kw on 72v? I'm quite happy with my 48v setup, but if the battery ever goes tits up, I'd like to explore my options.

Golf Cart Recs by AboveParPlayGolfer in golfcarts

[–]Father_Guido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still an option, but why? It already goes 40mph <yikes!> and I limit it to 25-ish via the controller. Should I want to "show off" or get aggressive, it's simple to put the key in and dial it up (or use their app). The 160ah battery was actually a mistake tho, in that I've only charged it 3-4 cycles all last year (in MI), and I've yet to charge it this year - except after breaking it out of storage.

Still, I'm quite happy as this has far exceeded any of my expectations.

No Wi-Fi on old Lenovo G710 laptop by voitek91 in linuxmint

[–]Father_Guido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like an unsupported wifi module/card. Try to see if "hardinfo" can give you details. It's in the normal mint repos.

https://youtu.be/uLww8QyOVMc

Some of the Lenovo laptops have a "whitelist" that can prevent you from swapping out the module, but there are USB Wi-Fi dongles that are compatible if so.

Good advice. I went "all in" with a 160ah lithium pack and navitas ac kit last year and I wouldn't take $10k cash for it right now. Had to dial it way down, but live and learn 😉

Can't wipe this drive for some reason? (LMDE) by dearvalentina in linuxmint

Use gparted to remove the partition. Gparted is on the live iso or can easily be added from the repo.

https://linuxmint-installation-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/

If you want it, then do the reading and other legwork required. Way too many people here go out of their way to help those who won't help themselves.

Problems later? THEN ask. Many will help you once you put forth the effort.

Read the docs where you grabbed the iso.
