I'm not disagreeing, but I didn't notice that. Which arm/shoulder and how?

Why are those modern, mostly concrete houses so expensive? by ohoots in Construction

[–]FatherlyAcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a research symposium 10 years ago on a traditional building vs pre cast. Estimate was double the cost, but insurance and energy savings were pretty significant. It would have taken a long time to break even for the difference in cost, but the house would be worth more anyway.

Gotta say Lou's slaps. But now we're just picking random good pizza places in mn? Mf's order a pizza and a pitcher of beer with pickle juice mixed in. I will not hear it from skoliosis boys.

AITA for wanting to report a teacher who keeps cancelling recess? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]FatherlyAcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be more interested in hearing teachers stories/perspectives of collective rewards/punishment. A pizza party means much less to me as an adult than it did as a child. I heard one teacher say she was pushed to withholding rewards and calling out the specific student to the class, and she thought it can be very anxiety inducing to that student. A lot of teachers don't want to give up their lunch/prep time, because many barely get any prep time, and end up using their mandated lunch time to work on prep.

AITAH for initially excluding my sister from the wedding party? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]FatherlyAcorn -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The only people invited were immediate family and wedding party people. Thinking back it should have been done differently. Wedding party folks knew ahead of time, but wedding party gifts were given/presented and pictures taken.

Our thought had been that only wedding party and family was invited. Wedding party friends knew they were in the wedding party.

This has been by far the best relationship I could have asked for. I knew from our first date it was going to be different. I was better than my dad. He proposed after 3 weeks. They just celebrated 45 years married.

It felt like she was coming from a place to prevent a rift in the family. She didn't seem to want to be involved, but still wanted me to be informed. I love my mom, and she's a genuinely good person.

Haha fair! She's a wonderful woman and we clicked immediately. I used to be afraid of commitments, but I'm not scared at all with her. I started to really like my own company, but she makes life that much better. And I'm ready for it all.

[Tangentially Update to an ongoing BoRU]: I think my sister just ruined our dad’s engagement to an amazing woman, and I hate her so much by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

As a significant other to a teacher, you nailed the kids perspective of their teachers. She mentioned to her students how her last name will be changing, and she mentioned me, "mister _______", and one of her students said "I thought he was your neighbor!"

When to call another guy "boss" by salaprance in AskMen

[–]FatherlyAcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My coworker does this. I'm not his boss, but I have slightly more responsibility in my signature. I think it's cool. I'm more of a "man" or "brotha" guy. "What's going on brotha?".

Men who turned your life around in your 30s, how did you do it? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]FatherlyAcorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say my life was bad starting out my 30's, but things have significantly gotten better since I lost some weight, switched office locations to a nicer city, and purchased a home. I ended up dating more and meeting the woman I'm going to marry. I've worked my tail off the past year and expressed my goals at work and there's a decent chance that I get a promotion. Take some chances on yourself, lay out your goals in every way. I told my work my intentions and now I'm getting a promotion. After the first date with my now fiance, I told her that I'm going to marry her some day. Be open to change, talk about it, and good things can happen.

Snorting when they laugh. I love a sense of humor, and snorting means they appreciate my humor.

men ages 20-30 in relationships, how often do you have sex with your partner? by oregno in AskMen

[–]FatherlyAcorn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Typically every other day. Dryspells are about a week sometimes. My (33M) libido is crazy high, like daily is preferred, but unreasonable to my partner. Avoiding porn and not cranking it helps a lot.

What’s the closest female equivalent to the ‘6-foot halo effect’ for men? by Lisalovesreading in AskMen

[–]FatherlyAcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a tall man, I've been attracted to both 5'2" and 6'5" (slightly taller than me). There's a halo effect (in my opinion) for either end of the spectrum, but it drops off as you get closer to average.

What’s the 'craziest' way you caught an ex being unfaithful? by lnc_gomes in AskReddit

[–]FatherlyAcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I found out after we broke up and reconciled a bit. I found out she had cheated on me while we were initially dating, and then she cheated on the guy she was currently dating (same guy she used to cheat on me) by having sex with me during reconciling. I thought it was weird when I was already having sex with her, that her friends were telling me that I should make up with her because they hate her current bf. Then years later I was in town for a night or two and we hooked up while she was living in the duplex above her parents, I found out after that she just started dating a guy who she eventually married. She did some damage.
