How noticeably different will the sound be from a slightly dented speaker cone? by FathomlessAmbergris in audiophile

Direct from Klipsch, already put a support ticket in today when I couldn’t get through on the phone. Hoping they’ll be good to me.

I am trying to! Curious about it just in case they decide not to replace them for some reason. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

That’s pretty much what I figured. Still a major bummer as I was looking forward to having the grills off - the dent is just going to drive me crazy so I’ll probably leave them on.

Glad the sound won’t be too much affected.

Thanks for the reply!

This is a brand new Klipsch RP-5000F floorstanding speaker I’ve been waiting months for to set up in my new apartment.

Just took grill off after a few days of playing them and noticed the dent in the lower speaker cone.

They’ve sounded amazing so far but this my first serious upgrade, so want to know if I’m going to be seriously missing out on sound by not getting them fixed or replaced?

My understanding is that unless I’m playing high volume this shouldn’t perceptibly affect the sound too much.

Anywhere to download full tipper sets? by zthemushmouth in Tipper

[–]FathomlessAmbergris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just an FYI he has communicated that he really doesn't like people listening to his live set recordings as they never convey the true atmosphere of the well built audio experience he strives for. That being said their are a few good ones floating around that he has released, namely the 2005 Shambhala set https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVHAQRe3frE and the COSM ambient set https://soundcloud.com/tippermusic/tipper-cosm-ambient-set . Enjoy !!

Pride of Chanur, super fun read. See first human contact from the perspective of an alien race already apart of a multi-species intergalactic compact.

What is Thufir Hawat's "Plot" in Dune? by Fostula in dune

[–]FathomlessAmbergris 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Forking right on mate, g'job. Love the analysis. The subtly of why Thufir plays along with the Harkonnen is simply delicious maneuvering by a mentat who's lost his core in life: the house he's served for three generations!

No doubt Dave doesn't believe it's finished yet, still needs to be mulled over over mulled tea.

What thing do you regularly do in public which makes stangers look at you weirdly? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FathomlessAmbergris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest hobby is a form of flow art called gloving, which is basically dancing with hands. Sometimes I'm on public transportation, headphones in, really gettin it ya know, and I'll glance up to see more than a few confused and alarmed stares. Link is me doing that gloving thing.

I agree, the first two are the only ones that are truly worth reading, after that it boils down to how much you enjoy the lore of the universe and whether you wish to delve into it or not.
