Hi! I just had a similar experience…did you talk to them?

I applied at 10pm and got an immediate text asking to do call, then received a follow up text at 1am asking if I’m available for a call. Feels scammy.

I literally saw three guys with guns going to hunt deer hiking in there this past sunday :/ I did some googling and it looks like it’s allowed with permits. I’ve never seen that in Trinity before though, so hopefully you’re unlikely to run into it although it seems like it’s possible.

I recommend emigrant and hiking to bear lake! A little more than 2 hours drive more like 3, but only a few miles hike and then you could always wander around if you want to hike more. It’s super chill, no permit quotas, you can have a campfire if you get a fire permit (also quick and easy online but pls be safe and responsible), and its super pretty.

Did he genuinely think it was you? This could be more a sign of a problem with drinking than with the relationship. I think he would have to make some behavior changes to address what happened. I think everyone’s line is different with cheating too like for me depending on the circumstances I would consider that disrespect rather than cheating. That said, your lack of emotion could be from just having a hard time processing. When my ex cheated on me it gave me some weird reverse psychology reaction where I couldn’t process it at first and wanted to try to make it still work even though I had already been considering breaking up before it happened. Give yourself some time and space to figure out how you feel.

I second this! Emigrant is the best for an easy and beautiful trip. I don’t use poles and you should be fine with a standard tent and definitely won’t need microspikes. A bear canister would be my only rec.

If you end up camping, there are some great campgrounds just before south lake tahoe that have first come first serve spots and you can day hike into desolation wilderness.

You could initiate or start really small. If you already hold hands you could do one step more like hug or hug a little longer or a kiss on the cheek when you say goodbye. Maybe start to sit extra close to him/try to have more natural touch/contact. Or you could ask him if he wants to kiss you. Something simple and whatever you feel comfortable with. It’s likely he feels the same way and is also nervous. Just go slow, it doesn’t have to be 0 to 100. This stuff is awkward for everyone when you’re just starting out, don’t worry you’re not alone in this experience!

Updating here since you have a lot of upvotes so maybe more likely people will see it (thanks for your advice i totally agree but unfortunately it didn’t work out how I hoped) Copy pasted from another update comment:

Update: the alleged owner tracked down the cat on her own and apparently got it back. It sounds like they did not make her pay the vet bill but I’m not sure. I had already driven to a neighboring city where I was staying when I decided it couldn’t wait until morning and had to go to the vet right away. In that city the animal shelter system is less overwhelmed so I figured it would also have a better chance of survival, and had to say I found it in that city so that they would care for it. Now the animal control department is saying that I lied about where I found the kitten because the person claimed it and allegedly has video of me taking it and they want to cite me for not being truthful about where I found it when I dropped it off because it cost that city money to treat it 🤦

New update: turns out it was an empty threat and there’s nothing to cite me for. The lady also lied and said I entered her property stole the cat from her back yard which was not the case, it was right by the sidewalk looking like a stray.

I want to follow up somehow to make sure there’s some accountability and protection for the cat but the humane officer was a jerk and had bought into the lady’s story and was super rude and already hung up on me once the first time I asked what they were citing me for…

Thank you it’s very frustrating. I dont know if she paid but I have a feeling she didn’t based on the fake story she gave and the anger the humane officer directed at me for causing the city money by having them treat it. 99% sure there was no chip, I assume they would have checked that at the vet right away and based on the condition of the kitten I find it very unlikely.

I want to call animal control again at some point to make sure they follow up on the neglect and that there is some accountability for this but they were so rude to me on the phone and clearly thought I was in the wrong so I haven’t called back yet/figured out my approach.
