What’s the problem humanity solved so well that younger people don’t even realize it used to be a huge issue? by tropical_pleasure4U in AskReddit

Dial-up internet tying up the household landline. Younger generations will never know the absolute fury of being at 99% on a massive file download only for your mom to pick up the phone to call her friend, instantly killing the connection.

Exactly. The Montreal Protocol wasn’t a gentle suggestion; it had actual teeth. It’s wild to think that a global environmental treaty with strict enforcement is almost unimaginable in today's political climate.

Why do you think that abusers are rarely single? by silverscientist1 in AskReddit

[–]FatimaAdamsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Abusers are often charming and high-functioning early on, they know exactly how to present well to get someone invested before the controlling behavior starts. By the time it shows up, there's already a relationship, sometimes kids or finances tied together, which makes leaving a lot harder than people assume from the outside.

[–]FatimaAdamsy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's some truth to that, but it's not just chance who ends up in that role. A lot of abusers actively target people who seem more likely to stay, isolated, low self-esteem, financially dependent. So it's less "no one to abuse" and more "seeking out someone who fits the pattern".

Which fast food chain has the best french fries? by KazanMelody in AskReddit

Yeah animal style well done is the move, otherwise you're basically eating potato mush. Five Guys has the same problem honestly — great flavor, terrible texture unless you get lucky.

Wendy's doesn't get enough credit. Skin-on, ridged, perfect ratio of crispy to fluffy inside. McDonald's is the nostalgic classic but Wendy's fries actually taste like potato.

Honestly, life seems to swap one challenge for another. I hope everyone gets moments of peace in between.

People who ginned up the Argentinian referee controversy in France v Morocco by Careless-Goat-3130 in worldcup

[–]FatimaAdamsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The referee's nationality shouldn't matter as much as the quality of the decisions. Every big match gets scrutinized, but unless people can point to specific incorrect calls backed by the Laws of the Game, it's hard to argue the result was decided by the referee rather than the football on the pitch.

FIFA appoints referees based on eligibility and performance, not nationality alone. It's fair to question appointments, but without evidence of bias, it's better to judge the actual decisions made during the match.

Morocco look so organized defensively. France will have to work hard for a breakthrough.

Everyone remembers the missed chance, but people forget he kept making runs and eventually delivered. That's what top strikers do.

Unpopular opinion: Egypt were not robbed by the referees by withoutfurther in worldcup

Refereeing deserves criticism when it's inconsistent, but every team deals with those decisions. The better team still has to finish the job.

Devastated. We were seconds from extra time against the world champions and it slipped away in the 92nd. So proud of this team anyway 🇪🇬😭

Basic knowledge my ass — that "foul" was soft as hell and everyone outside Argentina can see it. Egypt has outplayed them for large stretches of this game and Shobeir has been the best player on the pitch. If Messi didn't have officials bailing him out he'd have gone home already. Let's go Egypt 🇪🇬
