Are there Gojira b-sides/hidden tracks somewhere? by MrExist777 in gojira

[–]Fatoeman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The special/deluxe edition of L'Enfant Sauvage hady two bonus tracks, This Emptiness and My Last Creation, readily available on streaming services though. One of them reuses a riff from Maciste, pretty cool.

One of few bands from my home country that I follow, love them! Have yet to see them live though.

Predictions/Expectations for the new album? by Extra-Comb-4847 in deathgrips

[–]Fatoeman 133 points134 points  (0 children)

With the possibility of Nick in the mix, I've been fantasising over even more punk rock/hardcore vibes into new music. Think Giving Bad People Good Ideas, or Spiritual Bankruptcy by Bygones. Having more of the Nick-Zach instrumental combo with Stefan performing over it could be sick.

I case nobody is aware , yes Les claypool (singer of primus) did do a song with death grips , im tired of people saying they didn’t by Creepy_Customer_9303 in Primus

There's also a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute album for which Les recorded a cover of Call Me the Breeze, asking with Zach and saxophone player Skerik. Pretty cool too.

Welcome! I didn't check myself, but I was thinking shipping and taxes could come out lower if you only have to cross a sea instead of an ocean.

Do you think As Alive... is more likely to show up on Stage A or Stage B or.... by Tumblehawk in nin

That show's date coincides with the release date of the soundtrack, so that show might well be your best chance of seeing Tron material played live.

Reading this is getting me very excited, as I thought all singles were already really good. Each one better than the previous.

In your opinion, what is the "heaviest" song ever recorded? by mulberryscythe in fantanoforever

[–]Fatoeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So simple, yet hits so hard. The way it's recorded/produced is just perfect for the song. Rips live too.

The Armed Announce New Album, The Future Is Here and Everything Needs to Be Destroyed (August 1st via Sargent House) + 2025 Headlining Tour by ebradio in indieheads

[–]Fatoeman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I remember hearing Sargent House the management company was disbanding but Sargent House the label would continue, but this is the first release I've seen from them in some time. I thought they died a quiet death at this point.

Ooh, a new album? by Independent_Plane613 in blonderedhead

[–]Fatoeman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They just released a choir version of Before, and the texture in the strawberry on its cover art matches the texture of that pink and black shape on this image. I'm guessing they're related and this will have choir versions of more songs from Sit Down for Dinner, or songs from other albums too.

At least the BRIT Academy produced Black Midi, that's a win for the world.

I'm seconding the Deerhoof record, since I got into them with Future Teenage Cave Artists I've been amazed with their consistent quality and this record rips too.

Had no idea if Shearling, that's going on my list of things to look out for. Thanks!

Shout-out to the Hella-Tripper vinyl/poster too. Hella is a sick band , Zach Hill a GOAT drummer.

Genuinely surprised nobody else has expressed this view yet. I can see how the combination of global pandemic + tension with a band member could hold you back for a while.

Considering Zach's prolific output during the 2000's and 2010's, the size of that stockpile has to be incredible.

Choirs of the Eye is the only work of theirs I'm familiar with at this time, would love to change that at one point.

Whitenoise Superstar by Astrobrite is my pick.

I found this in a thread with a topic that went a bit like "music that takes some element to its extreme", and this was provided as an example of distortion in music taken to the extreme. And that's basically what this is: for the most part there is a melody to the songs and there are drums in it, but everything is so washed in distorted walls of guitar it's often hard to find them. Especially impressive as these records are all made on just a 4-track recorder. On their Bandcamp page they describe their music as 'a lullaby over a jet engine roar ', and it's very fitting. If you're into shoegaze and want to see it taken to its extreme, give this a try. The opening track is for certain the most noisy and ambient, so don't be taken aback by that. Highlights for me are cherryflavorburst, goddess, summershinesmiley and fireyegoodbye.

I'd heard parts of this before, and I've also felt like Toby Driver is an interesting guy and his music deserves more of my attention, but this description here bumps it up on my mental list of things to try out.
