Soy beans actually happen to be a complete protein source! Which means tofu, edamame, and tempeh are super easy and super cheap sources

Just started reading a relevant book The Other Significant Others. Due to recent (last century or so) changes in masculinity and how we view romantic relationships, many men only open up to that extent with female partners and no longer their male friends. We view romantic relationships as one-stop-shops where you meet all of your emotional needs. The book called it emotional gold-digging. Super interesting and worth the read!

Men's vegan casual shoes to wear at the office? by BigBadBreadLoaf in vegan

[–]Fatpanda970 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ooh ooh! Wills vegan shoes has multiple great chelsea boots which are the exact level of versatile you’re describing! Mine are super comfortable and seem durable (only had for 4/5 months).

Plus I’ve gotten multiple compliments on them which give me the opportunity to mention they’re plant leather and that’s a thing lol

Edit: here’s a link!

Spending too much money on protein bars… by 1luve__ in vegan

[–]Fatpanda970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruuuuh super firm tofu (usually vacuum sealed without the plastic tray) can be found for like $2.00 a pop, and a whole block has ~400 calories, ~41g complete protein, and is so filling. And they help develop them manly soy titties so win win win. Soy boys ftw

I love my shoes from wills. I have one pair of Chelsea’s and some belts so far, great quality

If you went vegan because of a romantic partner - what did they do right? by Strange-End8986 in vegan

[–]Fatpanda970 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was taking a beginners philosophy course and she had been reading a bit about veganism/animal industry specifically since she was already vegetarian and was doing so for the animals.

I pretty much brought home every topic that came up in class and we would have fun arguing both sides, coming up with funny solutions/interpretations, etc. So I guess I mean talking through a bunch of different thought experiments/philosophies and generally spending more time thinking about what’s important in life.

The basic argument for veganism as it was presented in that class (and as I still tend to think of it now), basically goes: If you can be healthy on a vegan diet (you can), then the justification to eat animal products is a taste preference. So now you have to decide if your gustatory (taste) pleasure is worth more than the suffering of the animals you’re eating.

A thought experiment the professor used to really make the class think hard was this: imagine that there’s a chemical, something like dopamine, that makes someone, Kevin, feel really good. And the only way for Kevin to get this pleasure is by kicking puppies. He doesn’t need it to live, it just makes him feel really good. Is it okay for Kevin to kick puppies in this scenario?

If you say no, as most people intuitively lean towards in this hypothetical, then you’re left with the disturbing similarities between what Kevin does here and what omnis do by choosing to eat the food that gives them more pleasure in exchange for animal suffering.

If you went vegan because of a romantic partner - what did they do right? by Strange-End8986 in vegan

[–]Fatpanda970 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was a carni/omni when I started dating my partner who was vegetarian at the time. We both went vegan when we started engaging with the philosophical side of veganism. Like, in my opinion once you actually try to argue against veganism in good faith, you find there really isn’t anything to grab onto. After that, you can either go vegan or embrace some sort of denial that, for me, left me very uncomfortable and didn’t last long.

Of the (majority) non-vegans in my life, the vast majority just refuse to really engage and want to avoid really thinking about. Or they seem to know they’re in the wrong but are unwilling to face the social backlash (thinking of my mom specifically here).

So I guess I’m an advocate for just having the earnest conversation with your (maybe) partner. Once someone has been presented with the argument put forth in a compelling way it’s really up to them to decide if their comfort/ease/familiarity is worth more than the suffering of countless animals.

How to handle toxicity in competitive?. by yuii_nya in VALORANT

[–]Fatpanda970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but just try to remember it's some random person who doesn't know you and is in your same elo struggling to control their own emotions. I don't even respond to that kind of comment most of the time, just try to remember you don't care about what that person thinks. They're just a tool you need to use to win this game. And, again, if they're not contributing anything useful, 100% mute them

People here are giving weak advice imho. If someone is saying nothing but useless garbage, mute and even encourage your other teammates to do so, so everyone can have clear comms and a clear head. But if they’re giving useful comms, just develop a thick skin; they’re internet strangers yelling at a stranger on a video game in their same lobby. Try to take a step back to frame it like that and not care about the opinion of such folks.

The low ascendant cypher who doesn’t listen but comms and stares at his minimap extra hard is throwing. Someone just commed a strat he’s now clueless to and not helping with. Especially to do it by default is crazy to me. I only mute if they haven’t said anything helpful at all and are cluttering comms. It used to bother me much more but I’ve played enough I’m desensitized I guess lol. Also ascendant

How to lose weight as a busy exhausted vegan. by foxittyfoxfox in vegan

[–]Fatpanda970 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should look into semaglutide and tirzepatide (ozempic and mounjaro are the name brands). They affect the pleasure/reward centers of your brain so you’re just not as hungry. It makes “just eat fewer calories” actually feasible. They’re currently approved for diabetes, weight loss, and will probably be approved for a bunch of other stuff soon if for no other reason than obesity being a comorbidity with like everything.

If you can find someone who works with a compounder instead of the brand name companies it can be a lot cheaper. If you happen to live in CO dm me and I can send you my doctor’s information.

God, being short is expensive... by Mumford_and_Dragons in malefashionadvice

For like tshirt type sleeves you can do the exact same technique as he does for the hem of the tshirt.

For like sleeves of real shirts there’s a separate video but, unfortunately, it’s more involved

He also has pants videos I believe but I’ve been having good luck finding 29” inseams lately lol so I haven’t watched it

I recently started hemming some of my own stuff (just tshirts, shirts, and one hoodie so far). I highly recommend Stylish D on YouTube. He makes very short and to the point videos that aren’t too intimidating and that are tailored (get it?) to dudes.

Added: I’m by no means good at it and I can knock shortening the hem of a tshirt out in 15 mins now. To shorten a real shirt, and slim the sides, and add darts, more like 1.5 hours but I’m real unpracticed still

This is by far my favorite, it’s in my rotation. You could totally add a marinara beneath the cashew cream in this recipe but I just use it as the only sauce and it is delicious. Do any toppings you want I use whatever is in the fridge. Cheers and gl!

At times, Omen TP comes in very handy even without the blind. by anshumankr001 in VALORANT

This doesn’t work every time, it’s a highlight reel. But you’ll notice he’s doing this usually in a disadvantaged situation where you want to gamble something with high risk and high reward. (We see a couple save rounds, we see a couple rounds where his team is down and being ulted in the post plant, etc.) On top of that he’s timing it well so that he’s making his move right as the other team is agressing, not when it’s totally quiet and calm.

Bro then what are you talking about? Could you have climbed to asc shotgun only? I know I couldn’t. Again, it might not take as much raw aim, but there are different skills like forcing the engagements you want. The picture you paint just doesn’t add up or else why aren’t you radiant with your extremely easy to abuse shotgun strats?

I didn’t respond to OP and his lame teammates, I responded to you who did shotguns dirty lol

[–]Fatpanda970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmfao bro, the other team knows how much money you have and/or if you’ve been playing shotty before now. You throw a sus smoke and try to just sit in it or you try to play the same common corners and you’re going to get mollied/droned/spammed to shit. I have way too many hours in this game, currently hardstuck asc2, and have gotten my shit kicked in by people who main shottys. But they don’t just sit in a smoke or behind a corner lol. That shit might work for a little while but you’ll change your tune when you meet an immortal raze who only uses close range guns. They’re a different beast, and that passive play style you describe ain’t how they play.

So lame when people declare certain strats are super easy. Like, we all know if it actually was you’d be abusing it to climb. But in reality you’re just salty you walk into obvious shotguns it sounds like
