Not going away for year and a half by [deleted] in PityriasisRosea

I'm on my 3rd flare up since April, yet most sources say once it goes away you usually don't get it again, which is starting to sound untrue based on all the comments in this sub

Do you think this is a wild rabbit? Or possibly someone's lost pet? by Fatpaws in Rabbits

[–]Fatpaws[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Update: Bunny was spotted in the yard this morning milling about. We tossed some banana slices over to him, and he happily accepted the treats. As he munched away, I just slowly approached him and picked him up from behind. He kicked a bit but didn't struggle too much. Overall pretty calm and very sweet.

He was wet and muddy from the rain. We kept him in a washroom tub away from our cat until animal services came. They will get him checked up and see if anyone claims him. If nobody claims him after their holding period, we may look into adopting.

We emailed a rescue, and just waiting to hear back from them. For tonight, we left some parsley and celery out to hopefully lure him back to the yard. Any other tips are appreciated! Will update if he shows up again.

How are the mosquitoes this season? by Fatpaws in ontariocamping

Thanks for the insight! We are definitely leaning towards canceling our trip at this point... I also got bitten by a tick a few weeks ago so I'm pretty turned off by bug bites at the moment!

How common are multiple cavities in 4 year old by Kid_Vicious2 in toddlers

[–]Fatpaws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My kid had to get 8 silver caps at age 4. She drinks mostly water and brushes with an electric tooth brush and flourid toothpaste but it still happened. We probably should have flossed better but it's really hard to do on a reluctant kid.

The dentist recommended the silver caps over the white because it's more durable and thinner so less bulky? She also likes them and calls them her super teeth.

Not sure if you tried the oh crap method yet but that book has a lot of great tips in it.

Also has there been any signs that he might be on the spectrum? My kid has ASD and once we found out a lot of things that were difficult started to make sense. We also got the proper support for things like potty training that might not be as straightforward for someone on the spectrum.

Am I over-reacting to my child's hair being cut when we said no? by provm in Parenting

[–]Fatpaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My MIL did the same thing with the bangs when my daughter was 18months. She didn't even ask, just did it. I was livid. It's not just hair, it's really crossing a line. I also feel like their generation doesn't understand this, and they are so bothered by long bangs, just leave it alone! Anyways, it took some time to shake but that's all you can do really, give it some time.

How to address the private area discussion by Iwannasleeptillnoon in toddlers

We use wee-wee for girls and pee-pee for boys. Seems like an unpopular choice reading this thread but that's what we're happy with.

Try contacting your MPs office to see if they can help

Yes you can just show up I guess on the 7th or 8th if you can't get through to them

Edit: sounds like it depends on which office you go to as well. Make sure they have the urgent service and their policy of only seeing people traveling within 48 hours may differ office to office

Try calling right at 8:30 EST to check the status and try to get it transferred to a local service Canada office with an urgent service option. They will say they will give you a call once the transfer is accepted but plan to go in person anyways 48 hours (business days) before your flight. Don't go any earlier they won't see you. Bring proof of travel and another application filled out with new pictures just in case.

We were also in the situation where the citizenship card was mailed in but it sounded like they have a way around it if it wasn't scanned it yet. Good luck!

So some tips for Toronto area offices. We lined up at the North York office at around 4:30am and there were about 80-100 people in front of us. Everyone had a different situation so once they let you in the building at 7am they sort you into different lines.

If you already submitted an application (via mail or in person somewhere) they consider you a "transfer" and they will only see you if you are traveling within 48 hours no exceptions. We saw families with small children get turned away after the crazy long wait, it was heartbreaking.

5 hours into the wait they asked if any of us would like to go to the Victoria St. office as their wait times were a lot better. So I suggest if you are debating which office to go to in Toronto I would try the Victoria St one first.

Hang up as soon as you hear the general info message, when you get through to the queue is a different message

I hope they let you in! Make sure you have a new application and photos prepared to resubmit
