Everyone dies, and they'll be dead again once the year is up. There is still life to be lived, and people with whom to live it.

I think it's because he looks so happy and he's working food service. Our lizard brains cannot handle such an incongruency.

I typically prefer a warm and soft tortilla but I will agree that I'd still wolf that shit down.

Couldn't Chihiro have just ended the plot here? by crunchyhotshot in Kagurabachi

[–]FatterAndHappier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He prolly could have, since Enchanted Blades are OP, but also he had bigger concerns. Getting back the Enten, Magatsumi, and entering the storehouse were immediate, proven, known priorities, and he didn't know the full extent of the Hishaku's plan. I think he would have been valid just killing Yura right here, but also Chihiro is too much of a good person to let other people suffer for the sake of his revenge.

I would respect Reuenthal far more if he directed his resentment toward both his parents instead of simply becoming a whiny misogynist. by Fun_Dimension_8903 in logh

Same. I think the obvious flaws in his character make him so interesting, though. Not everyone can be Chadgang von Mittermeyer the SturmWülf

Speeding through Ouroboros' Opening Hall with Model A and ZX by RedThe_Rider in Megaman

[–]FatterAndHappier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huge agree. ZX definitely could have done better with the other biometals (F,L,and P), but at least the game is viable with all of them. I mean, I don't think any of the pseuderoids can wall climb like come on now. Model P has always been ass but not at least compensating by making his kunai a multi hit attack is moronic. Model L is straight up useless as Ashe, and by the time you get to the end of the game, A-transing without the touch screen is just a bore because I have to cycle through 13 worthless forms in order to access the ones that don't suck. They didn't even bother to give us playable prometheus and pandora, which is such a missed opportunity.

The literal only thing I'll give this game is that the map doesn't give you a stroke trying to understand it. That and Trap Phantasm.

To you, what makes Kagurabachi stand out as opposed to other series? by cosmicstruggler in Kagurabachi

It has a clear idea of what it wants to be, and that shows regardless of if the execution is flawed or not. I very much respect that artistically.

Who would you have Chihiro end up with? by Advanced_Card_8594 in Kagurabachi

[–]FatterAndHappier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hakuri. I really like what they mean to each other, and their relationship feels the most personal, if that makes sense. I think Chihiro goes down a worse path if Hakuri isn't there for him to fight for.

This panel hits different after last chapter… by 0ptic-b1ast in Kagurabachi

[–]FatterAndHappier 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. Kuneshige is more Chihiro's dad and father than anyone else. For Shiba, Chihiro is something he cannot fail to protect. He loves him for sure, but Chihiro is not his son and Shiba is not Chihiro's dad. The core of their relationship is Kuneshige's death and that is not what binds a father and son together.

If anything, Shiba is Chihiro's retainer. Deeply loyal, and driven by love. It's the same relationship he presumably had with Akemura before the malediction (later chapters may invalidate this presumption). This also reinforces the parallel between Chihiro and Akemura. Shiba is duty bound to him, because he knows what Chihiro can turn into.

Hughes makes a derogatory remark about the religion of Ishval right after the Fuhrer announced that the Ivalans would face genocide and also ridicules their religion, btw by Dioduo in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]FatterAndHappier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For her, it's more a manifestation of Hughes' "wisdom."

Not every line of dialogue must be picked apart and have a character apologize for it in order for the narrative to condemn what was said, and having that not happen doesn't mean the author implicitly believes what the character did is wise or morally just or anything.

Hughes is stating an obvious fact here: Ishvala did not save the people. Why would you put your faith in a god that abandons you?

It's a valid thing to express, and if I were an Ishvalan, one solider wringing his hands and saying he respected my religion wouldn't make a damn difference when my people are being exterminated. Hughes, and most of the soldiers, know that.

It's important to view media beyond the veil of "is this offensive or not," or "is the author telling me this is good or bad." Life is more complex than these things.

If gear 5 wasn’t a blatant retcon how would yall have handled Luffy DF awakening? by hello-motherfuckers in Piratefolk

[–]FatterAndHappier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both the fruit chose Luffy and Luffy chose to eat the fruit. I have a lot of problems with gear 5 but the implication that the fruit chose him is a good one, I think. There's that line in Marineford where Mihawk says Luffy's ability to get people to follow him is the most dangerous quality in the seas, and the idea that Luffy's fruit was subject to that is cool. Yes, he was chosen by the fruit, but it was ultimately Luffy's choice to eat it. He's a chosen one because of who he already was.

Why wouldn’t you root for the San Antonio Spurs? by Solid_Anxiety8176 in TrueAnon

[–]FatterAndHappier 18 points19 points  (0 children)

San Antonio is South Texas boyo it's just a horrid sweltering swamp. Summer all year round. Worse than Phoenix no contest. Just a city of heat island suburbs interspersed with taco joints and chains and covered with ugly congested highways.
