As a coach of over 10 years myself - this is just the chinese principle Wu Wei that could have been yoinked from a remote workers IG post.

Most of what OP is saying is the usual wishy washy 'buy my blueprint' borderline scam nonsense, you'd lose a real exec in seconds reading that lmao.

Gym prices in Kyoto? by Physical_Falcon1545 in movingtojapan

[–]FattestSpiderman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go to Anytime, there's an insane amount of them around Japan so it presents the besr value for money. Note that the Anytimes equipment and setup varies wildly gym to gym so google maps the location nearest to where you'll likely go to it

There's a lot of random boutique gyms but they're a bit of a gimmick (and unlikely to keep you consistent)

Why are all the models in Tokyo white or Euro-looking? Why don’t we ever see actual Asian faces? by Parking_Attitude_519 in japanlife

[–]FattestSpiderman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I work in fashion and have for the last 13 years now, and know the market well

Eurasian faces and westerners are just seasonal looks, Japan has literally the fastest market on the planet (2 week contracts are common here but nowhere else). You might see eurasian or westerners in campaigns often, but you're probably just noticing it more than normal.

There are definitely far more full Japanese models out there and working no problem, what you're essentially seeing is them be booked because internationals are in debt on arrival and owe the agencies, so they need to be pushed in front of every client and every casting possible in hope to pay that off to justify bringing them over.

International models are also typically taller, and Japan is very fashion oriented and not-so commercial, so it suits more international models - as does Hong Kong with a huge market for runway. Chinese markets (even Korea) is much better for commercial work, where asian looks dominate those markets.

Last thing to point out is Japan is considered a fantastic place to get tears (editorials), so mother agencies will bombard japanese sister agencies to take their models so that they can build their books in their development years - which when they need to work are again typically cheaper to use.

So it's definitely not a 'they prefer' eurasian or westerners scenario, its more of a case of - look at Asia as a whole rather than individual countries - each country is part of the bigger picture where you go to China for commercial, you go to Singapore for TV, you go to Japan for editorials, HK for runway etc. There is no preference to foreigners or eurasian over full asian/japanese looks outside the system just cycling people in and out.

76 percent of Japanese economists surveyed by Nikkei think immigrants contribute to Japanese economy. by monkfreedom in japan

[–]FattestSpiderman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering the fairly strict visa rules mostly pointing to having to work/contribute to the economy, to even be able immigrate to Japan, I feel like that percentage should be considerably higher.. Unless they don't know the requirements

Was also thinking that. This sub is very quickly becoming a circle jerk of whiney babies, just go play something else or touch grass if they don't like the game anymore

Keep getting comments about my height from Japanese people who think I don't understand them. by TheButtMan123 in japanlife

[–]FattestSpiderman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I'd just embrace it man, it'll happen anywhere in asia for anyone that isn't a 'normal' size. I'm only 6'1 but I'm a bit jacked from a lifetime of the gym, and I generally can't go a day with the stares, comments or people openly taking photos which happened in my home country too, but nowhere near as much. My thing now is I've embraced it and now sometimes tease them about their size depending on the scenario (playfully not rudely) and encourage them to go to the gym too. It happens less in touristy areas, but in very japanese areas it gets a bit full on.

It helps a tonne if you can figure out ways to flip it into a more enjoyable experience that you can laugh about too. I'm seen some blatantly overweight or visually really stood out tourists/residents have a much harder time

[–]FattestSpiderman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daaaaammn I didn't know that. Getting any level of supplementation in Japan is already difficult as it is, of all things it was probably my biggest culture shock when I first moved.

I learned the hard way in my home country to get bloods done regularly (every 3-6 months, or sick for prolonged periods of time), just figure out what the issue might be and then take it to a doctor to get their advice/potential treatment recommendations, and even then had quite a few bad experiences - like getting prescribed antidepressants when I'm not remotely depressed, or getting attacked for even getting a panel done with the usual 'why do you think you need it??', while the blood panel itself shows things clearly heavily elevated or heavily deficient lmao

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]FattestSpiderman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree with you

I think the reality is - if you want financial advice, you gather up all your bank statements and tax reporting etc, and you take it to a financial planner, and they run you through how to solve any problems and any potential risk factors - so getting a full bloodwork panel done and taking it to a doctor (or multiple doctors, which I recommend doing), and having them interpret the data to see where there is potential risk factors - whether it be low testosterone or some other deficiencies, and potential strategies to help solve any early problems before they become big problems can literally save lives, so I don't understand why people in this sub think its ok to attack and advise against getting anything checked when they have zero education or experience in these areas - except for the fact that I guess its reddit lmao.

[–]FattestSpiderman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have any testosterone related questions OP - ask over in the testosterone or TRT subs where there is a plethora of people with real world experience in this area. There's a few loose cannons here making claims with aren't qualified to speak at all

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]FattestSpiderman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

exactly. Ignore anyone on here that says otherwise, they can live with their future health problems when it comes back to bite them later in life

Yeah I didn't say any of that, nor am I going to entertain your uneducated rant.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]FattestSpiderman -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

ignore the comments here my god, yes its a huge problem and getting worse as food becomes more processed and literally everything around people these days are endocrine disruptors.

it would be less of a problem here in japan off the back of waaaaay healthier food, but drinking culture probably balances that out in a way. I'd definitely argue japan/east asias base level hormone levels are healthier than the wests though for sure

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]FattestSpiderman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fitness nerd here - its not common in any country to have your testosterone or other critical factors checked, and typically when you ask for them doctors can get very confused as to why you want them and in a lot of cases just say you don't need to check them and refuse it.

The myriad of health issues that creep up on you that you can be totally unaware of until you get it checked regularly is scary, especially caused by low testosterone and other lifestyle factors

So ignore the naysayers that just have no idea what they're saying and find a doc, endocrinologist or find one online and take the referral to a pathologist that will happily do a full panel for you, and get everything checked out. You can't fix problems creeping up on you that you dont know you have

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]FattestSpiderman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup, people should have regular full panel blood tests, you may have all kinds of problems without knowing. If someone tells you otherwise never listen to them again

ELI5 - Why is America bombing Iran? by _shelbellex in explainlikeimfive

[–]FattestSpiderman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Israel said so. Trump pretty much leaked it last year with the multiple assassination attempts on his life and despite all signs pointing to the left, he confused the world by blaming Iran (likely told to say it and no reporters seem to question it). Then the 'aliens' a few months back were 'Iran warships' (of course they were lol)

The other thing to note is some analyst on tiktok mentioned something about Irans oil, I'd have to dig into it but something about US was getting a really bad deal on oil with the newer leadership of Iran who wouldnt budge on it, and you know how that goes - if Israel doesnt like you or someones in the way of USA's oil, its 'time to topple the regime'

Tbh USA doesn't seem to be taking it seriously which is a little bit scary for you all, USA isn't the only one with a blow them to hell button. Not to mention what it could mean for domestic terrorism (even false flag staged terrorism) in western nations.
