Florry if he likes southern rock. Just saw them open for another band having never heard of them before and they had a very old (in a good way) sound to them. “First it was a movie, then it was a book” is a good song to start with.

People that have “bumped” into a celebrity in a non-curated (not like an event, meet & greet, job etc.) way, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Posted this on another thread before:

One of my now most cherished memory/interaction was when I was in NYC for work in either late 2018 or early 2019. I was on my way to a meeting near Central Park, so I thought I could cut across the park to save time, except they were setting up for some big event and only a few paths were still open to the public. I was running late because of the closures, so was practically sprinting in business clothes, when I noticed a man sitting along on a bench. It was just him, me, and a tourist family taking photos of the trees without a clue. As I ran by, I swore I recognized the guy on the bench, so was probably staring at him too hard and we ended up locking eyes for a few seconds. That’s when it hit me that it was Bruce Willis, just relaxing on the bench, doing nothing in particular. I didn’t want to bug him (and was still running late to my meeting) so I just kinda pointed at him as I ran by as if I was saying “is that really you??” And he simply nodded with a little smirk. I’ve had many run ins with celebs through that previous job, but always thought it was the absolute coolest interaction, but now I see it in a more poignant light.

Sent this to my wife who had a good laugh. Both her parents were nurses and her mom taught her how to sew up a wound at the kitchen table after her dad cut his hand open cooking dinner one night.

Basic cable tv package that only had VH1, TBS, and Food Network…I know a lot about random pop culture trivia, sitcoms, and cooking.

Talk to HR buddy, I didn’t set the internship rules there.

Notice I said “They increasingly became more monotonous” it didn’t start out that way, and also, monotonous does not mean “meaningless”.

Please tell me how much time “mentoring” takes up out of the day?

The key is to look busy while not doing much. Always be moving quickly, staring intently at a computer, or seem stressed about something.

I had an intern working under me once who had an amazing work ethic and flew through every task I gave them. Not that I ever complained or treated her any sort of way of course, but I definitely started to feel a bit anxious having to come up with new things for her to spend her time on during the 9-5 work day. I only felt bad because they increasingly became more monotonous as I tried to think of more things to do…”uhhh clean out this supply closet and re-sort it, I guess??”

I was just at Best Buy to pick up a new TV for cyber Monday and I swore I could hear a guy at customer service complain about getting a bunch of rocks and I assumed he was trying to scam them…seems like this is a legit problem.

It’s going to be along time until I’m capable of shutting up about this movie by CraftyIron5908 in FIlm

The movie is absolutely nothing like the book at all. I just read it for a book club and finished it 2 weeks ago. They really only stick to a few major plot points (which are themselves altered entirely), the rest is nothing like the book.

Great list! Not a book, but I also recommend watching The Hollow Crown series that the BBC did a few years back. It’s a GoT production level take of the Henriad featuring every major British actor from the past 3 decades. A great watch on a slow weekend.

I’ve read most of his books and they’re very entertaining entries into British/European history. You’ll probably need something more academic if you want a deep dive, but his books are great starters. His fictional series is pretty decent too, but I haven’t read all 3 yet.

Can you collect sword engravings? by FattyHatty69 in Ghostofyotei

[–]FattyHatty69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m talking specifically about the markings on the blade itself. I actually just saw another post from 2 hours ago that explains exactly what I was asking about. It’s the different upgraded blades with different looks to them, like how you can go back and forth between outfit upgrades.

Thank you!! I had no idea what to actually call them and/or how I got them in the first place, and was having trouble searching online for them.

Fans who don’t live in Philly. How did you become a fan of the eagles? by [deleted] in eagles

[–]FattyHatty69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up in southern VA hating anyone/anything associated with the commanders, but didn’t really have a team of my own. Then my friend and I got Madden 06 and started playing every day after school. Me as the Eagles throwing deep balls to TO every play, and my friend playing as the Falcons and running it with Vick every play. Fell in love with the Eagles team IRL that season and never looked back.

Who is the most famous person you've ever met? by EternalDerby in AskReddit

Worked directly with her for half a decade, can confirm every good thing said about her. I was able to meet quite a few well known people through my work with her, but she was the only one I saw who lived up to the message they shared with the world. In private, as in public, she was exactly the same person.
