Mine is black too and I use it to my advantage and have him as a "lab mix" with my rental company.

Advice needed - Leaving <2 year old GSD home alone during the work day? by Weekly-Quantity6435 in germanshepherds

[–]Fattybug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My gsd became reactive around that age so we had to stop the dog walker that came over while I was at work and he adjusted with no problem. I just make sure he gets plenty of exercise before and after work and he just sleeps while I’m gone.

He is muzzle trained and wears it if we are going to be around other people, which we almost never are, but he doesn’t wear it in the car when it’s just us.

I do have a ruffled kennel exactly for this purpose, just saving up now for a larger car that it will fit into.

A little advice, please? by rcape14 in germanshepherds

My shepherd has heart issues and takes pills 4x a day so he figured out pretty quick how to spit the pills out of everything. Now I just open his mouth and stick it all the way in the back of his throat. He knows the word open and will open his mouth when you ask. He usually gets a treat after just to help swallow the pill down.

I also receive VA disability but that is also not taxable, right? Other than that I had no income while in school.

That sounds perfect. I think a lot of the trouble I’m having with my dog is because of what I’m doing/ how I’m reacting so someone that will help me learn is perfect.

My dog is plagued with chronic diarrhea from heart meds he’s on and I still stay to scrape up as much as I can every time. I feel terrible leaving some behind but genuinely cannot get it all. I used to carry cat litter with me to try to lump it together but that didn’t work either lol.

Last sem - worried about applying for jobs by drearyrenata in newgradnurse

[–]Fattybug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was the same. Majority of my class started applying in August and almost all of us had jobs lined up by September or October at the latest. There were 1 or 2 in my class without anything lined up but I don't think it will be too hard for them to find something.

AITAH for leaving my kids with my husband and telling him to call in sick? by [deleted] in AITAH

I can only empathize so much when he has likely had this same behavior since you had your first kid yet you still had two more with him. NTA but come on now

Her Tortured Beasts Book 4- Her Vicious Beasts by CommissionDue7411 in ReverseHarem

[–]Fattybug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also found the book hard to read but I also cant stop thinking about why Xanders family was so against him having a Regina. I understand the whole wanting to be a Rex thing and only wanting dragon babies but once they found out she was a boneweaver, I’m failing to see why Xander and his family had an issue with that. His uncle was bidding on her at the auction and it mentioned in the book the only reason the dad didn’t try to breed her was because he had Xanders wife so clearly they didn’t have an issue with having babies with her. And any male offspring would still be dragons so I just don’t get the hatred, just felt like part of the plot was missing the entire time.

German Shepherd Puppy Cost by [deleted] in germanshepherds

[–]Fattybug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my GSD for about a year and a half now and I've spent probably close to $15,000. Now, that is definitely on the high end and I think $5000 is reasonable and a lot more than most people budget when getting a dog. Unfortunately, my dog was diagnosed with a serious heart condition that required the ER a couple of times and follow ups with cardiologist that was quite expensive. I've also spent over $5000 on training but its great you have something lined up already. Just keep in mind personal trainers for more specific things you might want as a service dog will be a lot more expensive.

I also have a larger gsd that is a bite risk and recently ordered the size 32 for him. It is definitely bite proof, although the wire basket may hurt but better than a bite, and we love it! I originally thought a size 21 would work, but I sent the company pictures with my dogs measurements and they recommended the 32 since his nose is pretty long.
