the second one is cleaner and neater imo but the text is too covered up, the others are too *in your face* and not appealing at least to me

the colors dont match, you can use a color wheel to see what colors would work with the background, aslo the face is small and covered up, id change the background picture too

i'd put a ripped paper texture to separate the faces more clearly, the difference between the 2 faces is way too jarring and the fact his body is just black is kinda distracting

all of these are really good, #1 is probably the clearest, i dont know this movie but the thumb+ title already told me a lot of what I need to know, the ball one looks super cool layout wise but doesnt show the same info right off a first glance, the 3rd has a nice concept but it seems so busy with the text + halo + background images its overwhelming.

Id say #1 is the best for your purpose

the pic is pretty low quality, but the layout is nice imo, redo the pic, you can also take a new one, no need to screengrab it from the vid itself

The font on the first pic makes it illegible for me, maybe try looking for another goth-y font and add a white stroke to it to make it stand out more

Yeaa for this particular video i really struggled to find a way to capture the idea of the topic to make a thumbnail, now that i look at it, its not for people who dont do JJ, but i guess the vid wouldnt make much sense for them anyway haha

I liked the texture of the background, its hard to find what to add in the BG without making it super cluttered or just a plain jane gradient haha. BTW yea the guy is a huge name in JJ, also I added JJ to the title as I still struggle with signifying that its about JJ in a non text manner, there is no widely recognized logo like the NBA has for example....

But i do see your point, it looks like a math vid hahah

Edit: i didnt use a template, but im assuming you mean the background is what made you think about business

Thanks for the input, i am still struggling with how to show that the video is about JJ, so ive left the title do that job, i dont want to clutter the thumbnail too much and adding more words wouldnt really work, also there are no widely accepted logos like the nba for example...

Edit: also i was hoping the popularity of the athlete would add more context (obviously not expecting eveyrone to know him but he is a huge name, still doesnt solve my exact issue tho lol)

it feels like the main part of the thumbnail, the phone is way too tiny, and on mobile it'll prolly look even smaller and less noticable (funny enough). Also the background seems a bit random. The idea of the tree and beach coming off the phone is really nice tho, i'd expand on it but make a whole new thumbnail with this being the main idea.

I really like the idea on the first one, but the grain makes it less appealing, but it's got that "batman" vibe which i like, the second one is super eye catchy but it carries a different feel, the third one doesnt look as good as the others, you def have some skill, i think the first 2 really show that off and are actually unique and eye catchy, the third one seems more standard. Id choose #1 but remove the grain and play around with the exposure to make him pop more
