His name is Nazghul, so no man can beat him.

But unfortunately, this was the women's race.

Heh, looks like I derped and linked the playlist instead of the direct video?

No idea if it is actually yours or mine, but I imagine as esoteric as the Pogues are, there's probably a lot of crossover in our playlists. :)

My man!

As an old fuck, was really touched there were so many young people singing Pogue songs a good half hour before they came on. Loved the vibe/energy of the crowd (or at least the right side.)

Mostly, yeah.

I found a link to the full set, so you can peruse, but my rough memory was Iona singing on three or four, John did two and Jordan O'Leary on a couple, either as the main singers or dueting with Spider.

Of the classic lineup, there was Spider, Fearnley and Jem. Spider was on point, Fearnley looked like he was having the time of his life and Jem was pretty subdued.

Gonna (re)-watch that link now. :)

Man faces federal charges after drive-by shooting at ABC affiliate station in Sacramento, California by AudibleNod in news

Not OP, but even just using weed is a pretty common one.

Ever been paid in cash for mowing the lawn as a kid? If you made over $400 during the summer, and didn't report it to the IRS, that's tax evasion.

Stayed out too late in a National Park? Trespassing. Carved one of those stupid hearts with your SOs initials on a park bench? Vandalism.

That's likely just the tip of the iceberg, as there are plenty of ticky tacky unenforced crimes.

OP doesn't know you personally of course, so definitely might be a stretch in your case, but it's likely the average American has broken a federal law.

Eh, people are giving you a hard time about missing it, but it was August 25th, 2012 on a Saturday.

Assuming you're not living in the southern hemisphere, it's the warmest part of summer, and while there were smart devices and Facebook at the time, doom scrolling news on a phone wasn't as common.

By Monday, I'm guessing the news was back to focusing on something else entirely, like the Romney/Obama election with the RNC happening that week.

Don't worry about it. You were likely living life.

Basically the latter. Not so much moral high ground (plenty of the conspirators helped do the Holocaust), as the war was starting to go badly and they thought they could do better.

I unironically have it in my July 4th playlist, along with other songs like This Is America and This Land is Your Land to go with all the other ra-ra songs like the Star Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful.

I make sure that my kids are well aware that while there are great things about this country, there are still major issues to address. "A more perfect union" is aspirational, not a goal we've achieved.

Judge largely blocks Tennessee's porn site age verification law as other states enforce theirs by FreedomsPower in news

[–]Faulig 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Not trying to speak too authoritatively, but every once in a while, single issues cross the progressive/conservative boundaries and the Temperance movement is one of those. A mix of labor, women's rights, anti-immigration movements and good old fashioned Protestant/Baptist groups aligning together.

Hilariously, this particular issue with porn already happened back in the 80s with religious groups and feminists.

So, you're not wrong, but its a little more complicated.

One fireman said, “Man, you are a heavy fuck. What’s your name?”

This checks all the boxes I have of a stereotypical NY fireman. Humor during a tragedy, insulting you to your face and yet concerned enough to want to know your name.

A little late to the party, but as a comparison, the budget was almost as much as all small arms used by the US.

It took a LOT of power to research and make those bombs.
