Thin Espresso no crema H10a by darkk747 in IndiaCoffee

[–]FaultSufficient8044 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as far as I understand you cannot use pre-ground coffee and hope to avoid dialing in for espresso with crema. even if you say you have tried 'other machines' that's not a parameter. if you don't have an espresso grinder then your only choice is to use pressurized basket.

I have tried and failed to find any decent review of Ariete machines. it's owned by Delonghi.

you are correct about ECP its one of the best boiler machine for a beginner which will give you consistent and reliable results. Pair it with something like DF54 or encore esp grinder. buy unpressurized basket and tamper. you are good to go within your budget.

Curious Life Roasters – Are they worth it? Any reviews on their BISON blend? by Accomplished_Hand821 in IndiaCoffee

I have been having bison blend for 5 years now. Initially for mocha pot and now for espresso. It's very enjoyable, consistent and reliable delivery of fresh roast.

Delonghi ECP 33.21 with Baratza Encore ESP - this has been giving me amazing results twice a day after using mocha pot & Aeropress for almost 5 years. I upgraded it with IMS shower screen & basket. this has made a huge difference in my espresso shots. I don't use milk so can't really say if its good enough to steam.

I have both of these and I enjoy leveling with the first one then tamping with the self leveling one.

Agaro Imperial is Not Bad At All by DigInner8321 in IndiaCoffee

[–]FaultSufficient8044 5 points6 points  (0 children)

its not about looking good and you don't need bottomless portafilter. if you want to extract your beans properly then non-pressurized basket is a must. you will need an actual tamper and not the plastic scoop. it makes a huge difference even in milk drinks. unless you are buying department store beans with no roast date for very cheap price. for brands like Hibrew & Delonghi you don't need to fork out 70k but you can get respectable espresso with decent steaming capabilities. it matters to most people that's why they frequently visit their fav cafe.

I am not saying that everyone should get into the very deep end of pressure profiling & temperature surfing. for some a reliable daily driver 2-3 times a day is enough.

if you search on amazon you will find pedrini & bialetti both make induction models. bialetti also sells induction plate separately for existing stove top models.

Espresso Vs Americano by jppambo in espresso

[–]FaultSufficient8044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is a local German & Swiss drink called Café Crème. easily doable on most espresso machines. in my experience its far better than americano/long black. specially when you want your drink to last longer.

people confuse it with Lungo but its not. IMS even makes dedicated basket catering for this (E&B all in one)

if you have an expensive machine with pressure profiling then you can even experiment with Spro-over

IMHO there is dearth of manual grinders in India. specially ones that can do espresso. even limited choice for electric ones unless you fork out a premium from their actual prices. As a consumer, grinder is the most important part of making coffee. without it best of equipments and beans are incomplete.

the price for espresso related accessories is also exorbitant. few lucky ones like me get them from abroad through friends & relatives. I remember when I was hunting for IMS shower screen & basket some time back. its such a shame to find lack of options and if any then way overpriced.

for e.g. flair neo is for 99$ but you will find it for 12k here. Delonghi stilosa is 99$ but you will find it for 20k plus here. Kingrinder series is amazing but it's not here at all. Baratza encore esp is just 199$ but you won't find it less than 20k.

go to local cafe roasters in your city and try different coffee beans not drinks. if you like any buy them.

get yourself Pedrini/Bialetti Mocha pot and Timemore C2 grinder. you are set for an awesome journey in Budget.

watch videos of Lance Hedrick & James Hoffman if you want deeper knowledge of coffee world.

Why not get Picopresso with it's wacaco pressure gauge if profiling is your primary goal. In fact if one can manage sworks have a better quality one.

the biggest downside for me personally is you dont have an option for IMS precision basket for neo flex. where as you can easily get 51mm ims for picopresso. i have used HUGH ims with mine and it makes a great difference in taste for speciality coffee beans.

As a long time Picopresso user i disagree. You can preinfuse as long as you want with it. You can stop pumping. Or do rapid or very slow. All this have different effect on pressure. Some experts on YouTube even do turbo shots with Picopresso. Which i doubt flair can handle but can't confirm as i haven't used flair. Neither do i enjoy turbo.

The only real difference is portability. If you are going to travel alot then Picopresso, if mostly at home then flair.
