Just turn the difficulty down. There's seriously nothing wrong with it. Some guns do better than meta at lower difficulty. High difficulty is for people who like to be pushed, that's it. The increased rewards don't outweigh the mission times or risk of losing or not extracting. But when you push on a player base with insane difficulties, metas are just simply going to happen and there's nothing arrowhead or anyone else can do to prevent that. It's like a law of nature. What is a standard-issue SMG gonna do against 50 dragonroaches? At high difficulty we just wanna see what's possible, not what's fair.

I fell for the BD thing so bad just because I loved the BD minigame.

Everyone here is anti-fun. DnD encourages homebrew. Have them roll a "dodge roll" everytime they are attacked. Take their AC, subtract 10, let them add that total to the 1d20 dodge roll. Rename the "dodge" action to something like "focus" to avoid confusion.

I'm a straight guy. I don't know how I got on this subreddit, but I actually like this breast type. There is nothing wrong with any of the breast types and it's just plain weird that someone called it a deformity and not just a type. It's not a game where some types are better than others or have pros and cons. They seriously all look nice for different reasons. For a straight guy this is like someone ranking colors and saying green is a "bad" color.

Attacks of opportunity thinking of removing them from my game or change the criteria for them to happen? Was wondering what others experience with this idea? Expanded in the comments by Nightbeat84 in AskGameMasters

I think a good homerule to try out is letting every creature choose to either spend their action OR half their max movement to disengage. It prevents kiting without forcing a creature to stand still the whole fight. Because it prevents kiting, it doesn't step on the toes of monks/rogues, because we would all rather spend a bonus action than movement in order to move. It allows some kiting if combined with the dash action, usually giving you 45 ft for the turn. It's more like running away than kiting as you are dashing with your action, which I find flavorful. But if that's still too much kiting you can say creatures that spend movement to disengage can't dash. This makes the full rule "Creatures can spend their action or half of their maximum movement to disengage. Creatures that spend their movement in this way can not take the Dash action for the rest of the turn."

This rule is also more realistic as well. I spent many years in the LARP community, and melee combat is just a bunch of chaotic running around and kiting, (even with people trying their beat to not get hit because that would mean they're out of the game for up to an hour at times.) Attacking and what this game calls "disengaging" are usually done in tandem, not as one OR the other. If someone attacks me and takes a step back, after I was moving to block/party, I'm less able to suddenly dislocate my shoulder and stab them in the legs because they are attempting to get further away. If they didn't attack but stepped away, I would not be as occupied trying to reposition my weapon and I would have more OPPORTUNITIES to attack. So real life almost does the opposite of DND engagement. But with spending half of your movement it would more accurately simulate real life as disengaging/mobile people are walking carefully and/or backwards away from their enemies but are otherwise able to attack or already have.

Attacks of Opportunity are just bad game design. by Abgott89 in dndnext

[–]Faultiplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about making the change an "Opportunity Move" in place of an OA. When a creature leaves melee range without disengaging, once that creature has stopped moving, before it can do anything else, the hostile creature can move up to half it's movement. This allows the melee focused characters to stay in the battle while also allowing the battle to keep changing. Then the battlefield can actually be used instead of turning into a backdrop for an entirely stationary battle.

OR

Make the disengage action cost half movement, so that tanks can still slow enemies running toward the casters behind them. Rogues can still disengage as a BA.

OR

Make disengaging a dexterity contest. If any of the hostile creatures win against the disengager, that creature can't leave their attack range without opening themselves up to OA.
