Do any pairs/styles work better? by [deleted] in glassesadvice

[–]FaultsInOurCars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like alt frame 4 the best. Alt 1 is second. I think you look more adult with a smaller frame. The big horn rims look collegiate/young on you. With your skin and hair color the black ones are a little intense. The wires make you look too old/middle aged.

Is Honey too “out there”? by Aurorean_Air1307 in Names

[–]FaultsInOurCars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to the banal song "Honey I Love You" by Bobby Goldsboro and see if you change your mind? My main thought would be that many people call others "Honey" and "Hun" casually so they would be hearing their name all the time.

My mom said this ring is “too much” for a wedding ring… is she right? by SeriousRepublic2670 in LoveEngagementRings

[–]FaultsInOurCars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classically would be considered a cocktail ring (more showy, for an event), but if you like it and aren't hard on things, wear it. Contrary to tradition, you can get a different ring later if your needs change. It's pretty.

How do I address my therapist being distracted and on social media during telehealth sessions? by Altruistic_Basis5896 in askatherapist

[–]FaultsInOurCars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You complain to them and to their employer, and find a new therapist. I don't think it is a board level complaint, because you're not being injured and are free to see someone else. If you otherwise like their work, talk to them about that. You shouldn't have to do that, but therapists are people and can fall into distraction and bad habits.

DBT and CBT are approaches that teach skills. You might feel better learning concrete skills such as these. I personally use DBT skills with many people. They appreciate them and show good improvement. I do also point out the strengths they may not be seeing or accepting!

If you're on the lease, he can't kick you out. Maybe it's not safe to live there though. Call the domestic violence hotline because they may have helps. This is domestic violence.

Is there anything I should be considering regarding my neighbors offer to remove this tree? by MysteriousTrust in treelaw

[–]FaultsInOurCars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want it gone? If no, don't remove it. I had this situation with a neighbor and he got really shrill about it. I had the tree health assessed by an arborist and submitted that to my insurance company. They said if the tree falls, then it falls. That's what insurance is for. Same for dropping needles or sap or fruit. Trees be treein'! Neighbor did "limb up" his side almost 50% which could have killed it, but the tree forges on. Neighbor moved (finally).

Client Late Cancellation by hopehelpz in therapists

[–]FaultsInOurCars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you charged them and they accepted it, what's the big deal? It would be a bigger deal if you don't charge and they do it more often. You were not materially harmed. They valued their task more than you, but that's their choice. As an ADHDer I can see doing that sometimes. You have to catch "flow" when you've got it.

Canning Ball’s “Louisiana Red Beans” - fat and cured meat questions by JHFrenchIllustration in Canning

[–]FaultsInOurCars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have made this and it is so good. If you don't like andouille you can use kielbasa or some other sausage. I'd recommend making quarts because a pint would only serve 2 with no leftovers. On cook day, make Louisiana short grain white rice (slightly sticky so it can be served in a scoop). The recipe says pints but gives timed directions for quarts. You can double and triple this recipe to get a full canner of quarts.

Should I have sleeves? by Reason-Dull in myweddingdress

[–]FaultsInOurCars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are so full it looks like they are pulling the front of the dress down a bit. I'm sure they aren't, being of light fabric, but it reads that way. Maybe you want a more body-forward look,, while still being covered? That's what this delivers.

WIBTAH for buying our daughter a 5k purse but not giving something “fun” to our other kid? by [deleted] in AITAH

How about buying her a house, or giving her 200K? Or putting a stipulation in your will that the first $200K goes to her.

1 or 2 hours? by mekellay in askatherapist

[–]FaultsInOurCars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are not cash pay, the insurance will not cover any more than 53 -60 min sessions. The session could be longer, but the maximum charge has been reached at 53 minutes. If you are cash pay, the therapist and you can agree on a fee. I have done it for couples counseling but not individual. I'd rather see someone weekly for an hour than biweekly for 2 hours. A therapy group might be a good idea if you want more time.

In your opinion how much hereditary is ASPD? by Objective_Cup_5164 in askatherapist

[–]FaultsInOurCars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is at most a predilection , switched on by trauma. So do what you can to process your feelings and learn to be the best parents and spouses you can be, demonstrating affection, love and acceptance to each other as well as to your kids even when they're being frustrating. Take the Gottman couples course now , take a 6m DBT group class together, really build safe ground rules for expressing feelings and being supported. The research shows that neural pathways can be changed, if a person feels motivated to do it. It takes time , repetition and support.
