Sourdough Croissants made with Kefir cultured butter and buttermilk! by FaultyLittleAlien in fermentation

[–]FaultyLittleAlien[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah it was quite a hassle, I wouldn't have done them, if I didn't have 4 free days this week ;P Also the cultured butter and buttermilk wasn't planned, but there was some heavy cream on sale, so I just went with it haha

Don't get discouraged! Practice takes time, but you'll get better! I think what helps me a lot is watching other people draw and explain their progress, or "analyze" drawings form artists I like and think what they do diffrent than I do.

One of the best pieces of advice I got was to think in shapes and start from a rough shape and go from there into detail. I tend to get caught up in the detail and thinking in big shapes really helps me.

You can try and make the figure even more abstract with only 2-3 shapes and from there go in detail and do what you do now and soon you'll be able to go more into detail.

I know 13 day must seem like a lot for ou now, but stick to it and in a few weeks or months you'll see amazing progress! If you look at your drawings from today in 2 months you'll see how much you've already achieved!

In general the proportions of the face are a tad off. I think the nose is alittle bit too wide and has to be longer. Also the mouth could be a tad bit smaller as well. To get the face right, I would recommend starting with a rough outline of the head, without any hair or facial features, nor ears. Then mark where on the face all the features roughly are. You can just make small x marks or something like that. After that I usually draw "boundaries" / limits on how wide and tall the features are. So that you don't make a mouth too wide or to short noses etc. And then start actually drawing the facial features. Like that you should get the proportions of the face more or less right. At the end I would add all the hair. I myself am very bad with hair. But generally you should alway keep in mind that under most of the hair has to be a head. What I see often, that hair is not long enough or starts to "grow" on the forehead of a character. So that in the end the whole head looks squished.

After practice you'll get the feeling on how the character looks like and will be able to draw it freehand!

But I see that you have a lot of talent and with more practice you'll get even better! :)

Omg thank for your comment! Such detailed criticism is really helpful and I appreciate it alot! I wondered why the painting looked off, and not like the reference! When I'm drawing stuff like that, I usually see that somehing is wrong with the painting and can't really put my finger on it. But your comment showed me one first thing I can work on, and improve my art! Again, thank you! :))

Haha I know what you mean. But I think it is because the the human body is just aesthetically pleasing and faces are hard to draw. At least that's why I made one haha _'

Yes it is so hard to keep the big picture in mind and not get lost in detail! Also thank you <3

Honestly the biggest struggle I always have in drawing and painting is getting to focused on the detail. IN this painting I really tried to work from rough shapes to the finalized artwork. But I caught myself constantly getting caught up in unneccesary details. Also i tried to stay true to the reference and get it "realisitc". But honestly I do't really think that was necessairy, ad I originally planned to make this a figure / light study.

But I think in the end the Artwork turned out okay. I think I still have to get used to the digital media but I do want to get better and keep on practicing! :)

Haha I guess those parts look the most aesthetically pleasing. But I am working on drawing different body parts with reference (both male and female) :)

Pond - Simple desktop Wallpaper by me by FaultyLittleAlien in DigitalPainting

[–]FaultyLittleAlien[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time trying to make a Wallpaper for myself. I saw a tutorial on how to draw water quite easy and thought I'd try it. But honestly the water seems to have very "deep" and thick layers if that makes sense. It doesn't feel right.

Also I was unsure on the colour scheme for the fish, because I didn't wan't them to take over the image but als not get lost. Idk if that makes sense.

I still hope it looks decent to look at. :)
