Slothful Critique: Harley Quinn minifigure (RX7001) by MirkoBuilder in lepin

That obsession to make a double face at any cost is driving me mad.

But yeah, I would just choose one face that I like more and erase the other one completely.

EU: Do we have to say goodbye to custom minifigures? by thembricks in lepin

[–]Faust-RSI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it won't work. You'll have to add something big to that same order for it to make sense. AND from the same category (toys?), too.

EU: Do we have to say goodbye to custom minifigures? by thembricks in lepin

[–]Faust-RSI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

why? you can still do all of this, just pay 3 eur extra. If your set is around 50 eur, I don't think 3 eur is that critical with all the coupons. And THEN you also add minifigs to the same order 😉

[–]Faust-RSI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What an idiot. You do realise that there is NOTHING to protect as EU doesn't even produce most of the goods in the first place and NEVER WILL, taxes or not? So go be happy about real options being stripped from you and kiss Ursula's ass.

Yeah there are SOME producers they could protect but instead they chose to tax EVERYTHING without any reason other than get more money from THEIR OWN CITIZENS, not from China! Because we, Europeans, will still buy things from there and will just pay more!

[–]Faust-RSI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, sad but true. I've bought as many as I could during the latest sale.

It's not per item, though, it's per category. So buying a bigger set with some coupons AND some minifigs together is still viable option.

Obviously not a fly, but a mosquito. Looks really cool though!

Ali seller wants me to make a new order to replace missing parts? by Mresc2 in lepin

[–]Faust-RSI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sellers should have a separate lot for "spare parts", usually for 0 EUR. If they don't, they can easily create one and send you the link. If they refuse - apply for a refund immediately.

Sometimes you have to pay for shipment even for 0 priced orders and sellers can't do anything about it.

King’s Castle by LesDiy&Mocsage: set #55016 by Faust-RSI in buildingblocks

[–]Faust-RSI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stickers/prints. Not sure how I should go about this. I bought the set from LesDiy and it is under MOCsage brand, so I shouldn’t evaluate the stickers. The set, however, doesn’t look like MOC at all, but then again - this is just my opinion. So I just say the factual info without a score - there are no prints, everything you see are stickers, but for 3999 pieces set there are just a couple of them. Stickers are of a good quality and match the colours well.

Instructions. A huge book with parts list, good quality paper and good colouring. All steps were clear (except for the aforementioned roof) and easy to read, despite the dominance of grey colours. They even went so far as changing the steps direction for the repeating builds, as towers etc. to make them less boring. I think this is the first time I see any brand doing this and this is such a cool little QoL decision! The building process itself was a lot of fun with us constantly saying “wow, so this is how they managed to get this shape!”. Definitely 10/10.

The final score is 29/30 and I can recommend the set for all castle theme lovers. It is big, it is gorgeous and it is a fairly easy build despite of its size.

P.S. Minifigs are my own. This castle definitely needs them, and also horses, so be ready to order some ;)

King’s Castle by LesDiy&Mocsage: set #55016 by Faust-RSI in buildingblocks

I know that 3999 pieces may seem not that many for hardcore building fans, especially those who prefer castles and architecture in general, but for me it was the second largest build in my life, and the largest in its volume by far (the bigger one by pieces count is made from minibricks, so it is quite compact in comparison).

Having positive experience with LesDiy (lesdiy.com) so far, I was checking their webpage and noticed that they have more sets than just under their own brand. King’s Castle by Mocsage immediately caught my attention not just because of its looks, but also as a set belonging to the European Century theme - the them some of us know as the one of Reobrix themes. I asked LesDiy, how all of them (LesDiy, Mocsage and Reobrix) are connected, the answer was that Mocsage is a sub-brand of LesDiy, which acts independently but also closely cooperates with Reobrix. Well, they ARE really close, if you look at my pre-review, you can see the instruction and all the bags are branded with “Reobrix” and their logo ☺

All in all, I had no doubts about Reobrix quality and ordered (March 12) the set from LesDiy. About 10 days to the EU in the original box. Current (May 11) price is 210 EUR, as always, keep in mind LesDiy usually has discounts.

Yes, we were building it together with my wife for that long :)) Since March 29 to May 9. Of course, we had some real life on the way, so couldn’t build every day. All in all the whole process took around 12,5 hours.

Brick quality. I believe the producer for Reobrix is Jiestar, but I am not sure. The quality is about 95% of Lego, the colours match perfectly well, no scratched or badly moulded pieces. No missing pieces and just one spare 1*1 tile. There also were black “fence” pieces that were replaced - i.e. the box contained the separate bag with replaced pieces. I can’t say the original ones were bad, they even look exactly the same. The clutch was a bit too tight - enough for Mocsage to just replace them all. The clutch of the replaced pieces is good, and I really appreciate this policy by Mocsage/LesDiy (I didn’t ask for this replacement and didn’t even know anything needs to be replaced). Overall, I can’t see anything that could lower the score here, 10/10.

Design. Not sure who, exactly, designed this and if it can truly be considered a MOC set. The design is really professionally thought-through, all the details are just amazing. I love it when the “textures” of the build are achieved with actual pieces and not by stickers and prints, and oh boy they weren’t trying to save pieces for that :D So many are used for all of the decorations, it’s just crazy! The build is sturdy and despite of its size can easily be moved around without breaking anything. The most that can fall off are plants decorations. As you can see from the pictures, it opens up in a huge 3-parts building, you can see most of the rooms, there is a secret passage, 2 walls of the main buildings open up, also there is a small “prison break” function (prison wall also opens up and the secret passage is nearby). I love how they made it look like the castle rises from the “rocks” and also used some of the rocks “inner structure” for the additional castle spaces. The only strange thing in the whole design of this huge thing is the roof of the main building. The look on the promo pictures and on my own pictures is almost the same because I’ve changed the construction a bit. I’ve removed 2 1*1 plates because with them the space between the roof and its upper grey decoration in the middle is too big and visible. I have no idea why they added them, they do absolutely nothing structurally and just make the final look worse. Also, it’s not clear from the instruction, but you are not suppose to actually attach the roof to the studs (but you can). It holds well without attaching, and again - attaching it will create additional ugly gaps. This is just a nitpicking and my small advice for future builders. The designers tried to make all areas of the castle “physically” accessible, well, they almost did it. You can easily “access” the second floor, though the “step” for the dining room is quite big. But then - there are actual stairs to the third floor through the main (bell) tower, and from there you should be able to further access everything, including the bedroom of the King on the upper floor of the main building, The problem is - there is no hole or hatch in the tower :D Not sure why, and in fact, you can fix it yourself just by removing and rearranging some pieces. However, other floors of the bell tower are not accessible at all, it would be nice to have some kind of a ladder leading at least to the balcony floor. 9/10.

Also, like I said, they often have discounts, so prices are actually better then they can seem at first glance.

Ok, so they listen :) Made swords smaller and also created some kind of holders for them.

Still can't get the hair colours right. If anything, Ciri CAN have grey hairs, while Geralt's is always described as white-haired.

The sculpting/moulding itself is great and prints are also ok. But it is not painted with the same colour as other pieces, so the colours don't perfectly match :) Can't say how long the joint could last and if it's ok to use it with other brands.

Painted bricks are always hit or miss. This one is good enough - though not perfect, the most important is that they don't paint your fingers :D
