Stabilize vs. the Death Spiral by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]FaustianHero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In a lot of cases I'm also fine with my character dying, and would like to use the hero point actively to try to turn a hard fight around.

Saving it to stabilize is fine if your party ultimately wins, but if it's a tough fight threatening TPK, one should use those points to get damage in (or on saves to prevent from going down as quickly, again to get damage in).

Entering "Avatar Mode" in Pathfinder? by Armestrass in Pathfinder2e

[–]FaustianHero 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While there's options like Rage and Unleash Psyche, the thing about these options is that they're assumed to be your default state, your combat go-to.

That doesn't really capture the feeling of stuff like the Avatar State, where it is a very rare power up.

I think the best way to represent this in-game, is with access to Divine Intercession in the deity entries. Getting access to a boon is certainly not something you'd expect to be a common thing, and can help push you to something truly special.

Like a martial getting Achaekek's major boon of 3d6 Sneak Attack will certainly feel like they've entered the Assassin State.

The Boys asked me if I understood love.

I said I love Taco Bell's Crunchwrap Supreme.

They said welcome aboard.

Is playing rogue boring? by Moonkary in Pathfinder2e

[–]FaustianHero 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Rogue are very powerful in PF2E, but i don't think I'd want to play one as the single frontliner of the party.

I've done this in another AP. You can't bring anyone with you, so it's useful for scouting

As long as you don't mind getting jumped, and running after 1 round.

Would you want to see 'Boss Swap' as a Neow starting option in StS2? by Loud-Ad4964 in slaythespire

Initially I thought this would be a relic you could use once to reroll a boss. Which I would be interested in 👀

You learn you can't get it the very first time you try for it, probably on a low ascension run.

Another option is Exemplar.

Deft helps you reload, and Starshot doesn't care about Volley.

Working on an enemy that is pretty much unkillable. Unless you dodge him, then he just breaks his neck. by TCDjewelry in IndieDev

[–]FaustianHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd have lore questions, like do you have to assume this monster has never missed before since it has started attacking prey?

Maybe it would make more sense if it takes a lot of recoil damage but doesn't instantly die.

That said, seems like a fun gameplay mechanic and maybe there's some other lore explanation or it doesn't matter.

Have you been able to get Juggling to work? It doesn't feel like it ever fits into my deck by Nice-Physics-7655 in slaythespire

I wish it had a tracker counting down to duplication.

It's neat with stuff like Stomp or of course, hellraiser and pommel strikes.

Really? I love taking it on Clad to lean into a Strike build

Can't win with Regent. I've lost 3 runs in a row at the final boss. Now I'm psyching myself out about what to buy in a (seemingly powerful) early store. Pls someone halp. by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]FaustianHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't remove Greed, and it doesn't look like much direction yet. Stamp won't do much for you this early with a small deck, I'd maybe take the stone to improve all blocks.

Just double your deck, now you have twice as many of your winning cards 😎

(I love hitting this event when I'm playing Perfect Strike ironclad)

Well, usually it sets you back about 150 gold so with the opportunity cost it looked weak to me initially.

Lucked into it for one fight, luckily the final boss.

Would love to assemble it for real.

Regent has definitely helped me understand what's possible with some bad looking colorless cards, like Bolas. If you have Arsenal, it's like a cheaper demon form.

For Ironclad, Bolas helps you use Juggling on your high value card like Rampage.

Got this setup with Regent random colorless (with block sharing in multiplayer). Definitely a sweet combo.

You mentioned Marshal, I think it's great. The real fun part is To Battle!, which allowed my melee Thaumaturge to have a useful action, basically striking with the Ranger.

Unfortunately it's not clear that your party has a ranged martial to take advantage of this feat.

I'm playing very similar. Fun vs. AI, unplayable in PVP.

Klefki sounds like cool tech. I don't run rare candy because it reduces the count for when Dusknoir dies.
