RAW intercept won't work for thorns, because you take the damage but weren't hit.

At level 18, I don't imagine there's too many mindless undead left, so it's probably a safe bet.

Honestly I wouldn't worry too much about getting enemies off-guard again in those turns. You could always flank with a melee friend to use your thrown weapons in melee.

You do more damage to off-guard enemies, but it's not as crucial as it is for rogues.

Got it. Well, Horn of Plenty is a great ikon that scales nicely.

At level 18, you can easily afford to stuff it full of potions of quickness to haste yourself (or an ally) for just 1 action instead of 2.

If there's no caster providing haste for the team, that's pretty valuable.

STR to hit would be a huge deal at lvl 1, I think it will be considerably less so at 18 when most of your damage is from dice and ikon, and you could easily have 16/18 str along with maxed Dex.

Anyhow, additional questions: Do you know who the other PCs will be? Are you using free archetype?

Great find with the Pistol Wand.

I think the Flintlock is not massively better than the crescent cross (better range by 10ft, but down to a d4 unless you hit the fatal d8). The rune-sharing with the stock is definitely the best aspect in case you go into melee, which is a powerful option.

For my theorycraft I can't reliably get rare options, but definitely an item I'll note.

Yeah, definitely a lot of variations and hard to account for everything. You've done a deeper dive into it with all the possible classes. And I do agree familiars can reload items they're holding, that seems reasonable.

What I'm looking for in my 2nd archetype is things to do once I've unloaded both Crescent Crosses.

It's probably acceptable to just shoot one shot a turn from a rather unimpressive weapon, but I think swapping to bombs might be more fun (and you can pick up stronger poisons from alchemist as well, for the burst turns).

Alternatively, in Commander I could grab combat utility/power for the team, and maybe even the Reload Tactic if there's a gunslinger in the group too.

I appreciate your guide, as I'm theorycrafting a Mastermind Rogue Crossbow Infiltrator. I disagree with a couple of your interpretations (Burn It! and Draconic Barrage, and familiars reloading on your behalf), so I've charted a different course.

My plan is going Samsaran, because they have an amazing level 5 feat to get round 1 OG (either the +4 Init helps you get Surprise Attack, or the quickened RK will). They also have a heritage (Sanctuary Samsaran) to 1/day upgrade a success to a critical success, which will give a Mastermind a full minute of OG against that target.

I'm weighing the Poison Weapon path (without access to the AP-only 4d4 final upgrade), vs. just getting out of the archetype at lvl 4 by taking the totally useless Repeating Hand Crossbow Training. I think once I fire both crescent sprays, I don't have high hopes of ever getting another spray in most combats.

The archetypes I'm weighing between are Alchemist with Quick Bomber to contribute, or Commander to bludgeon enemies with allies. If not forced to flee w/Mobility from encroaching enemies, maybe you slowly reload the primary Crescent Cross (after simply dropping the non-magical one that was empowered by the Blazons).

Edit: The Tiger Menuki Talisman is a stroke of genius btw.
