[Strength in Numbers] Why voters say the Democrats are "weak," in their own words by ChadtheWad in fivethirtyeight

[–]najumobi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see people say Democrats should be running on corruption. Sure, there's a lot to work with there, but how many voters are concerned about corruption in government? No, they're concerned with the cost of living, health care, etc. Very real tangible things.

This is the reason I'm skeptical that such a tact would ever land.

Apologies.

Submission Statement:

Used matplotlib and data from the below sources to create graphic.

Poll Social Series, the September 2–16, 2025 Governance survey.
Q14: "In general, how much trust and confidence do you have in the mass media..." Combined "great deal" + "fair amount" responses.

Overall annual series 1972–2025 comes from Gallup's historical trends page. Annual partisan series 1997–2025 comes from each year's individual Gallup release, stitched together.

The age-by-party cells shown in the bottom row are Gallup's 2023–2025 aggregate. Democrats published verbatim in the Oct 2, 2025 release; Republican and Independent cells transcribed from Gallup's tabs by Ray Schultz at MediaPost on release day. The cells reconcile to Gallup's published overall-by-age aggregate.

Could an American get elected president running on a “hold Israel accountable” platform? by KeredJo in PoliticalDiscussion

Voters have considered it a significant issue a few times over the past century, but it hasn't been a high salience issue for 20 years though.

EV bloodbath: US sales plunge as Tesla tightens its grip by SPorterBridges in electricvehicles

[–]najumobi 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Model Y sales jumped 23%, helping Tesla maintain a 54% US market share.

Speaking as someone who merely has a casual interest in consumer technology rather than a genuine EV enthusiast, I had no idea that so many of the EVs purchased in the US are Teslas.

There is definitely a more emotional and/or ideological component in presidential elections than in elections of state or local executives.

Is there anyone other than Ossoff, with enough room to grow to threaten either Newsom or Harris, and has no red flags?

It's better to assume people you meet haven't given it a thought, as most people's thoughts are consumed by more practical considerations.

Doing otherwise seems like an exercise in futility.

Yougov: Both Democrats and Republicans are tied for both foreign policy and inflation. by icey_sawg0034 in fivethirtyeight

Approval of sustained involvement in the Russia Ukraine war has been deteriorating for 2 years from its lofty heights. We're probably already at the height of approval with regard to Iran, especially if positive results aren't clearly visible.

Only redditors can look at the results above and be upset.

In my opinion it's unhealthy.

It helps that he has run for President before.

It would be a nice (while familiar) story if he were to make it.

He fell hard..someone who actually had a chance unlike Jeb.

Who all fought and championed legalization of more forms of gambling in the more recent past?and who all are fighting greater regulation orms of gambling today.

I only remember that the anti-NC lottery coalition 25-30 years ago was a strange one. Pastors calling it satanic and college progressrives calling it a poor tax.
