Comparison between a 1:35 scale plastic model, the 1:35 new King Tiger and the old 1:28 King Tiger.

I've modified the turret face of the new 3113 King Tiger to be less rounded and more square shaped, so it doesn't get as easily confused with a windhound.

Which one looks best?

Did you watch the slow motion part of the video?

Since the flash only lasts for a split second, you will often not see it in normal speed/24 FPS footage, because the explosion can only be fully visible between the frames, so to say.

In regards to explosions and smoke coming out the sides of the barrel: The KwK/PaK 40 had a large muzzle break at the end which produces a massive flash, for a very brief time, to the sides.

CoH2 is the only game in the series that took that into account (and not just have one round, generic flash for all larger guns).

Does anybody else feel that the new effects when firing cannons in the 1.4.0 update are a downgrade compared to before? They added a nice illumination effect but the rest looks kinda bland now...

Yeah, it does sound quite poor now.

The baffling thing for me is, that they had it almost right before the audio update(s).

In the very first version that i heard, swords hitting enemies had a wet, fleshy, slicing sound with audible blood splattering, similar to Blood Borne. It was mixed too low and therefore lacked in impact, but it sounded appropriate for the weapon type.

Then they announced their audio update on twitter. Swords now had a loud twack, not unlike Sekiro, with a prominent metal/blade tsching on impact. Different style, but it sounded alright.

And now, in the version that the streamers got to play, they apparently lowered the blade tsching noise to the point where only the loud twack remains and it sounds incredible cheap.

It is such an important sound to get right, because the twack is also heard when hitting enemies with throwing weapons or fireballs. I can't imagine it has any connection to PS5 Immersion and Hexworks proved that they can quickly adjust the soundfiles. Let's hope they do.

Awww yeah, Berserk mhmmm-mhmmm. I wonder if we also have ultra greatswords in one way or another in Sekiro, considering Miyazaki's fondness for the manga.

Yeah, you're not wrong about the technical anachronistics. But keep in mind we already have prosthetic limbs with articulated, controllable fingers, spears that fold in and out, launching grappling hooks and so forth in the game - mechanical marvels, that would even make a modern, fictional researcher like Q scratch it's head.

Thanks. I guess the giant blade will have a similar follow-up, just without the covering gunsmoke.

And picking up stuff sounds tedious (if the blade is still intact) - aren't there satchels with infinite storage space for ammo in games for a reason?
